The race team I work with is in need of some equipment that I have and I volunteered to fly it up to Van Nuys tomorrow morning. I've never landed at VNY before and will need a place to park for 30min or less. I see that there are a number of FBO's on the field, but dont know anything about any of them. Any recommendations? I wont need fuel, and wont be there long, so hoping to not get dinged a $$$ ramp fee for basically no service.

Thanks!

(from a few years ago, the name escapes me) there was a little place right off roscoe blvd. if you land 16r, taxi all the way back on alpha, left on alpha 1, then quick right before the hangars. will be in front of you. they didn't charge me for c150 about an hour while I ate lunch.

There are some tiedowns that are unoccupied along taxiway Alpha north of the tower and just before you get to the row of T-6s (Condor Squadron). That is where I used to park when I went up there to do a pre-buy on a T-6. Just tell tower/ground you are going to the ramp next to Condor Squadron. Just look for a tiedown that doesn't look like it is being used - ie no chocks left on the ramp and you should be fine.

Please don't do this. My tie down spot is relatively close close to transient parking and have landed more than once to find some jackwagon in my assigned permanent spot. Absence of chocks does not mean it is not someones spot that someone is paying for.

If you are staying with the plane, sure, no problem. Otherwise use transient parking or FBO dag nabit!

I was about 50-75 feet away the whole time.

OP said he was going to be 30 min or less. The tiedowns I was referring to are pretty empty and several did not even have ropes/chains on them.
