This summer I had ten students and things were busy! On top of this I work an unpaid internship at CAE Simuflite where I fly captain or co-pilot for people who need training partners in their Beechjet initial and recurrent simulator training. As a result I'm PIC type rated in the Beechjet.

However...right now I'm sitting in Dallas with one student. All of my students have since graduated, a few dropped out due to money, and the prospects of getting more students is dismal. SimuFlite keeps me busy maybe 2-3 days a week.

So, I know it's kind of a shot in the dark, but I was curious to know if anybody knew of any flying jobs for a 750TT/25ME PIC Typed Beechjet pilot. Especially since a lot of you live in the Midwest which is originally where I'm from. I've been as close as sitting in on a Part 135 indoc class, only to have a plane sold off and other pilots take my spot. D'oh! Any help, advice, leads, would be greatly appreciated!

Brett,

Are you looking for a Beechjet job, or any flying job? :dunno:

I'm sittin' in the Midwest and I've applied for some flying jobs, but none of them are here.

I'd be up for anything. It's amazing the flight instruction jobs are even hard to come by. A Beechjet job would be nice. Especially since I'm Part 135 current and ready to go! I'm actually from WI...so Madison would be great!

I haven't found any jet jobs at all for people with less than a couple hundred hours of turbine PIC.

It looks like your time and mine are pretty close together. I would guess that out of all the jobs I find online, I meet the qualifications of about 1 in 40.

Especially since I'm Part 135 current and ready to go!

But not IFR PIC qualified yet - That's where things start to open up. I already have more than enough Night and actual - What I need is just a few more hours of XC (about 30-35) and then that last 500 hours of random whatever time to get to the magic 1200.

Nothin' happenin' around here. :frown2: I talked to Phil at Wis Av a couple weeks ago, and he said they have a pile of resumes several inches thick for the charter department. :( There might be a CFI job opening up there soon, though, but I'm not sure. :dunno: I'll let you know if it does.

Yeah, I've yet to hit those magic Part 135 numbers. Fortunately, if company's are only hiring into an SIC position a lot of times they only ask for Part 135 currency (an 8410 from a training facility i.e. SimuFlite).

I have a former instructor working at Wisconsin Aviation doing flight instruction and the occasional charter. I've also talked to Phil when he and my instructor came down to Dallas on a trip. Great guy, and probably a great company to work for.

We're supposed to start hiring again pretty soon, and Mesaba is hiring into a pool (last I heard) if you want to get into regional flying. We have Houston and Tyler, Tx bases for the Saab 340, if you wanted to stay down there...I have no idea how senior they are right now. Mesaba's bases are MSP and MEM, if I'm not mistaken. Beyond that...I've been looking casually, myself, and there's just not much out there at all; unless, as Kent said, you have a boat load of TT and PIC time in turbines.

Definitely. Phil really does things right, both for the customers and the instructors. He hires people that have a good chance of being around for a good amount of time, a couple years maybe, but when it's their time to move on with their careers, he helps them out as well. The only instructor I was less than impressed with there (he was a bit TOO eager to go fly jets, and kept talking about it on a regular basis!) got fired pretty quick. They've got a good-sized and varied fleet (4 152's, 3 172's, Warrior, 2 Archers, Arrow, Dakota, Seneca, and Cirrus SR22!), reasonable rates, and good rental policies. That leads their students to come back for advanced ratings, and to rent and keep flying when they're done with their PP-ASEL. I wish more flight schools were that way.

Your instructor - Tina?
