Yes thats what i was thinking getting something that old while you would have the latest and greatest with a warranty for 2 grand more.

Yes the are, and still pretty popular as a Comm #2 paired with a Garmin GPS navcomm as #1 in a lot of planes around my airport.
Coincidentally I just sold the 24v KX155A with GS receiver out of my parts plane for $1450 this week. Local cash deal right at my own airport and no yellow tag (working when I pulled it) so I was happy to discount it for a fast, cash deal.
