I've sent a lot of instruments to AQI, all positive experiences. I've also recommended them to a number of people and almost all have had positive experiences. I recall one negative experience someone reported on, but I can't recall what it was ... maybe took too long. At any rate, AQI has (in my experience) turned things very quickly and had good results. I just sent an altimeter to them, arrived last Monday, they were calling on Thursday to say it was done.

Just to make you feel better about your decision: We used AQI twice and were very happy with their service. The two A&Ps I know also exclusively use them.

I'm sure someone has a horror story about whatever shop you ask about. And I've shared this here before...
In my case it's AQI...
When I bought my 182 I did a major avionics and panel upgrade. As a part of that upgrade, I pulled almost every instrument out of my panel and sent them to AQI to have them overhauled. They are all now paperweights on my desk...every one...I think the longest one lasted for about 5 years...some failed very soon after the "overhaul."
I'd never have them touch anything of mine again.

I haven’t had a Kelley instrument last more than 18 months. Unfortunately mine have stop working after their 12 month warranty. Contacted their customer service and zero help besides offering to sell me another unit at full price. Plane now in the shop, removing the vacuum system.

Have 5 AQI instrument overhauls with dial refinish between two airplanes, no complaints and would use them again.

Yes, went with the 375 & dual G5’s.
I was ripped off by Kai at AQI for over $500. (Overhaul, shipping, A&P labor)
I sent in my precepting DG to AQI and it worked worse when I got it back and I was told I did not send it back in a big enough box to warranty 2 weeks later. It did not work at all at that point? RC Kelley made it right and treated me excellent. AQI sucks.
