If this is in the wrong forum I apologize.

Thought it would be good to find pre-student (like myself) or those that may have just started that might be local to me to knowledge share and help each other learn.

I'm in the Tampa Bay Area (of Florida). Live in Odessa, FL (33556) but am willing to travel to any of the local fields and to meet up with anyone that is new to this and wants to knowledge share.

I work M-F from about 7am to 6pm so I'm only available nights and weekends.

Chris, this is the right forum to meet up with pilots, instructors, controllers, and other students like yourself...only not in person. I wish you well on your search for a local, but please make use of this forum to get any and all questions answered...or to at least point you toward where the answer to a question might be found.

Welcome to the group!

Welcome! I’m a newly minted sport pilot in Haines City, near Winter Haven. Home drome is Apopka, X04.

Have you had a discovery flight yet?

Hey Chris. This is a great forum, I've gotten SO much help here.
It is good to get input from people at the same stage as you, but it is also beneficial to get it from folks in all stages of their flight instruction.

There are some very experienced pilots here, they have helped guide me a great deal, but also folk that are just a little ahead in their progress have also been maybe the best. Experienced pilots sometimes are so far ahead of us students that they have a harder time understanding what we are all confused about. Not all. Some are still able to help out. It's like anything. I am a guitarist that has a ton of experience, and I am a terrible guitar teacher, because I just think the student should "just do this" and don't remember how hard it was in the beginning.

You went the other way, wanting to contact others in the same situation, and that can help a lot, but again, the best advice I have gotten often comes from someone that recently been where I am and remembers very well what we students are going through, or another student that is a little ways ahead. They still remember the newbie problems, but have progressed. Their advice is often spot on.

In any case, I have to say, TGP is a fantastic resource. So much knolwedge here. Some crusty pilots, but they too often come up with great advice while lambasting you. Or me.
But I won't name names. Seriously, good knowledge comes from all the phases of progression.

Good luck!

Welcome to POA, and good luck finding a buddy!
