just got back from destin. it was nice to hear people complain about traffic.

Wife and I flew down to Henderson Park Inn for the 4th of July. It's <3 miles from the airport. Flying from central GA is 1.5 hrs vs 4+ driving during "normal" times. A coworker and neighbor also went to Destin and Sandestin during the 4th. They complained about how bad traffic was getting there and leaving. Besides an isolated rain shower enroute, nothing worth mentioning during the flight. I know that owning a plane is a money pit, but I have to admit that there are times that I am so grateful that I can fly to my destinations.

Yes indeed, that's what it's all about. I flew the family up to the Georgia mountains a while ago, and we saved probably 15 or 16 hours of travel time. When you're traveling with an infant, this is like winning the lottery. Using GA for travel doesn't always work out, but it sure is fantastic when it does.

I just saved about 12 hours of driving by flying my new (to me) mooney. Just need to get instrument competent again.
