Joey Chesnut wins the Mustard Belt

In mid-90 degree weather, 15 major league eaters ran the gauntlet of doom through a bunch of screaming fans to get to the biggest stage in all of competitive eating: Nathan’s 2010 Hot Dog Eating Contest on Coney Island. With three consecutive titles to his name, Joey Chestnut was the favorite to win again, but not without some competition, even without Takeru Kobayashi competing this year.

ESPN commentators talked about who might threaten Chestnut’s odds, including Tim ‘Eater X’ Janus, Bob ‘Notorious B.O.B.’ Shoudt, and Chicago’s very own Patrick ‘Deep Dish’ Bertoletti, but from the start it was clear who the fans wanted to win.

Kobayashi showed up, just as it was about to start; then got arrested when he tried to get on stage during the awards portion. YouTube video:

They claim he was denied entering the contest because he would not join some eating union .....
Tell me this ain't so .

And supposedly Kobayashi refused to join the eating association sponsoring the competition because they forbid entrants from entering their competition's contests.

I am ashamed to admit it but we watched this live before doing something much more important (can't recall what that something was but it had to be more important lol). Interesting 10 minutes to say the least.
