I had planned to be loading a truck this morning to move to Austin. Unfortunately, this mild little depression off in the Gulf decides to turn toward the coast. Then, it picks up strength and turns even closer to the coast.

Good ole Edouard made landfall this morning at 7AM. At the time it was still calm up my way but not so dry now. The nice thing is the winds died down considerably. As of last night, they were forecast to be 35+ MPH this far inland. The TAF for 1PM stated gust to 35 while possibilities existed for up to 60-70 MPH. Now, winds are around 13 Kts and gusts to 24.

It wasn't what many feared after Rita. There's some mild flooding but nothing serious. Probably the worst to happen is the grocery stores have to work overtime for stocking shelves today and tonight.

I pushed the truck loading off until tomorrow. Mostly because I don't want to get everything wet in the process and it makes no sense arriving in Austin a day later in the same rain. I'm spending the day twiddling my thumbs and staying dry.

Oh, and reading posts by some strange people who like to get high. :)

After all, we have all day!

Could you do me a favor and make sure that stuff moves out of town soon? It looks like I'll be making a trip to San Antonio to help my sister move this weekend and I would really appreciate some nice weather. ;)

Ha! SAT is gonna get hit with some of this, too!

So Austin is your new home? Movin' up to the big city from Conroe? :dunno:

Actually IMHO, Austin is the nicest that Texas has! Will you still be a CFI? I routinely do the Houston-College Station-Austin route. Maybe we can cross paths sometime.

Yep, I'll be teaching at AUS, next door to Atlantic.

I'll look forward to paths crossing.
