Is this plane a good deal?

It's OK if you are happy with a dated panel. If you are looking for a nice IFR platform you will probably not be happy with that panel. For that reason I'd pass.

If, however, you are looking for a nice VFR plane....it looks to have potential, but, I'd want a thorough inspection and AD review.

I think that one has been for sale for quite sometime.

I traded messages with the seller. If I was closer, it may have been worth a visit, but there were many others that were closer, and, were better deals, in my opinion.

What AD's have you concerned on a 50 year old 182?

What is "thorough" for an inspection on a 182?

Whenever people say "I spent $x over the last two years" I'm always hesitant. I've found that means they skipped things because they didn't realize how expensive airplane ownership is. I would also say the avionics are VFR-only, the attitude indicator, heading indicator, and all of those instruments are likely going to need to be replaced (super old). Way too much money for something like that...I bet if you subtract out his money he "put in" + hangar bills + insurance that's what he paid for it so he's trying to get his money out...also tells you about what it's worth...plans changed = airplane needs more money in it than it's worth

I love the " Does not include headsets or Garmin in photo." <---- Then unplug the stupid headsets and Garmin before taking the photo! It looks like crap with all the wires going everywhere anyway.

Seriously, I need to get into the Aircraft staging business. Sometimes sellers are their worst enemies.

I think you can do better. Avionics too old, looks like a lot of catch up maintenance was done. Why is he keeping the headsets and Garmin? Looks like he wants out ,at a good price.

Exterior and engine look good

...but the interior is toast and th panel is very lacking and very dated, he says he doesn't fly it IFR so who knows if the pitot/static transponder are going to be to spec.

Id pass, for the same price you can get a 182 with a garmin 430W, nice interior nice engine and exterior.

I wouldn't pay more than 28k for it.
