That's almost $20k more than I paid for my M, but mine didn't have the AP. And I only have one hinged window. I'd love to have 2, but I dunno about paying $20k for that...

I'm thinking the same...too much.
I fly out of class C, so ADSB will be required, and one thing usually leds to another.

That's about what I paid for my 172n with lower time, a 180 hp conversion, 2 axis A/P, an aux fuel tank, etc. I would say it is well over priced.

About 20k over market for a marginal IFR bird. You'll hate that 150hp

His wife must be making him sell that. Too much coin for certain!

Much too high, especially for a mid-time engine. I'd say that's about a 35k-38k bird at the high end of things.

I know nothing about skyhawks, other than learning to fly in one, but i do have a 172 airplane buying story...

There was a 197(5)? ish 172 for sale near me. It was the horrid 70s green with green tinted skylights. Green. But, if I bought it local tradition said I could keep the hangar it was in. It was also hail damaged. Upper wing was like a golf ball. (Yes, I understand this has little / no effect on performance, it looks like crap.)

Thing was, the owner was oh so proud of that little goblin, and didn't like the fact I wanted to have an independent prepurchase inspection done. Was asking mid 50's. I walked away, and like 6 months later saw it marked "sold" on tradeaplane for 32k.

I think owners will always think its worth more than the seller. If you like the plane, make an offer at your price and then wait. Or not. Plenty of planes out there.

If the radios weren't ancient and it had a 430w, market price.
With what it has 20-25k too high

I caught flak on the Piper board because I dared suggest trainer aircraft for personal use have an inherent price ceiling due to the existence of more capable XC samples at similiar price points. I just don't believe that avionics can carry an airframe/engine staple, price wise. Thence it becomes quite a tenuous proposition to spiff up panels in low-performance aircraft with an expectation to not give that expenditure away for free. But hey, a fool and their money always part company right? LOL

It's funny someone has a 496 and a single axis AP and they say it "has GPS and AP"... In reality, the only thing in that panel that is not junk is the audio panel.
As others said, way way overpriced.

Low 30k aircraft.

For 50k, I'd want a lower time engine, and a 180hp, /G and a better autopilot.

Buddy of mine got a factory seaplane 172, low time engine, low time airframe, nice interior, wheels and floats for less than 50k

Like others said, for 50k a standard issue 172 wouldn't be on my list, frankly you'd be better off renting.

Wow... Everyone is so agreeable. Haha

Thanks for advice

It looks like you may have decided to walk away, Badger, but for that price, I would be looking for a C-182 instead. I suspect you could find a C-182 with something like a 430W for that price or close to it.

You've got the idea, but for comparison - https://www.trade-a-plane.com/searc...2N+SKYHAWK&listing_id=2258771&s-type=aircraft

172N
Garmin 430
Garmin 330 mode-s transponder.
66 hours SOH
$44,900

That is 4 significant upgrades for 5k less.

I do not see an AP, but I'd bet you could get a comparable (or better) used one installed for under 5k if you really need it. Or just hand fly.

Well that's an N model with the little loved H2AD 320 engine...

You've found 182's with a 430 in them for $50K? Really? Got a link?

As an active seeking 172 guy, it's way overpriced. I looked at a m with 800 SMOH and 530w and no ap at 50k. Still trying to figure out why I didn't buy it, but that's a different story

Two summers back one of our club members barely manged to get $50k for his late 50's vintage V-tail with Garmin 750 and an Stec 60 ap in it. He flew it regularly, including to OSH most every year.

Yeah, but that's a Bonanza. No one wants those. Now a 182 for $50k... that's a completely different story...

To give you an idea, this has a o-520 in it and a 430 and was $65k.

its listed as a VFR plane? what does it take to certify one for IFR?

Since it has the KNS80 installed, my guess is it that at one time it was IFR. The owner probably has not kept the pitot/static/transponder checks up to date. I have those done every two years, and the cost is usually around $300. It could be a little more if something is broken and has to be fixed. If you are interested at all, why not call and talk directly to the seller? I like the old 182's like that one. If I were shopping, I would check into it a little more.

Not looking for a 182, chased down that patha already once. But actively looking for a 172, m or n, preferably with 180 hp

8.50x10 and 8.50x6 on the nose iirc, but don't quote me on it. I was extremely impressed with the STOL kit.

Deals like that I can't find on the TAP/BS/etc websites. Those tires with STOL and a decent panel... nice plane.
