Is there a way to get to Evergreen Cargo at JFK Airport using mass transit like trains, buses, or taxis? I don't have a car on my college campus.

I heard on another aviation forum that there is a shuttle service or bus service to the cargo terminals. Is that true?

If so could I take the LIRR, get off at Jamaica Station, take the Airtrain to JFK get off at one of the terminals, and if there is bus or shuttle service, take it to Evergreen Cargo? Can I do the reverse when coming back?

I'll bite... why? Gonna hitch a ride to Europe in the front gear well?

It's because one of the faculty at my college knows a guy who work at Evergreen Cargo and he could hook me up with an internship either at JFK or maybe Newark this summer either with Evergreen Cargo or with another airline or aviation company. I might need to see him during the school year and I have no car on campus so I got to find a way to get there without driving there.

I just checked the Port Authority website and I see a map with the shuttle bus route throughout the cargo areas.

When I worked at JFK in the early 1980's, there were employee shuttle buses that meandered their way through the entire airport. You had to have a "pouch" (airport id) to get on the buses, however.

I imagine if you have an appointment with this individual, they'll work out the logistics. You can't really wander around JFK. The security was pretty tight the last time I was there. Actually, it was annoyingly tight -- enough so that despite JFK being 15 minutes from where I then lived (or three hours, depending on the traffic), I preferred to drive an hour north to fly out of HPN, whenever possible.

As for getting to JFK itself, you can take a cab, the AirTrain, the Q-10 bus, or any of a thousand or so private van services.

Yup.
Lirr to jamaica, airtrain to jfk first station. Multiple busses under the platform with free transfer. One stops in front of evergreen on its way around the perimeter. From ny penn station figure 1hr+
