One who misses Daytona!
Ever since I upgraded to 7, I have no long term battery life.
About 4 hours tops from a full charge. It is IPhone 4.

Other than new phone any suggestions. I hav closed all open apps.
I was hoping to wait for bigger screen.
Thanks

I guy I work with said the same thing. I have not put 7 on my 4S yet for this reason.
Did you dod some google searchs on the problem? There are things you can turn off to help this issue.

I have avoided putting it on my iPad mini and Iphone 5. Anyone know of issues still?

Lynn, I wish my iphone4 with ios7 got 4 hours of battery life. The only way it does is if it's used to prop the door open. The other change I've noticed is an increase in time for an app to launch. The other is the touch screen sensitivity has changed to where more pressure is necessary to stroke a key.
There was a sheet of suggestions floating around the 'net (can't find it now) but doing those things did not increase the battery life.
I'm up for a replacement phone and will end up getting something other than an iphone due to this situation.

I don't have an iPhone but I noticed that when I send multimedia text messages, which utilize 2/3/4G, the battery depletes very rapidly. Bluetooth also. Do you have some apps that update themselves in the background?

My apps seem to launch faster on the 4S, but the battery life does seem shorter.

I have the same issues as well.
Guess there will be a fix coming soon, I hope!
If you find the sheet, pm me please.

I have it on THREE iPad's and three iphones and we have noticed zero problem with battery drain - in fact - it seems a little better than it was with 6.1.3/4

That said - most of this is caused by one of your apps that is no 7.0 compliant that is phoning home too often.

Go through your apps in the 'Notifications'
Settings>Notifications -

and turn them all off except for iOS native stuff like phones, maps, mesages, etc.

That should solve the problem.

Then you should 'update all' for your apps. Then start adding notifications for what you want to notify you.

You'll be amazed at how long a battery can last - my iPad mini lasts days using it for 45 min or so at night.

Have you tried a backup, erase, and restore? I had some minor issues when I first did the upgrade to iOS 7 on the iPad, and that's ultimately what I had to do to resolve them. Battery life now seems perhaps a bit better than with iOS 6.

Add me to the iPad battery-eater category. I used to go all day with regular usage and never go below 50-60%. Now I'm in single digits. Something in iOS 7 is sucking battery life. If tried turning off unnecessary notifications, but that's hadn't helped much.

There are several new "features" that keep the various radios working more than they did in iOS6. Some of the following will help with battery life. I've been doing it since downloading iOS7 and have been getting at least 48 hours between charges when # of phone calls are kept to a min and kept short

  • Turn off the background app refresh.
  • Turn off bluetooth when not needed
  • Turn off "Ask to join networks" (it appears that the wi-fi radio is staying out of "seek mode" when I do this)
  • Dim the screen nearly all the way. You can always bring it up for the short time you might need it. But for most use, 30% might work for you.

Did you find a major benefit with the iPhone 4? I looked at the list of "new with iOS7" features, didn't seem to be much for the plain iP4.

Did the iPad, it goes through the battery a lot quicker.

Thanks for the tips. I will try those.

An example of my power drain: I unplugged after a night of charging, but never opened the cover. Two hours later I opened it to use it and it had already lost 4% of its charge without the screen ever having been on. That's ridiculous.

FYI, I checked....Bluetooth was off, screen was set to about 30% but had never been on, ask to join was off. I'm hoping the background app refreshes the culprit. I turned that off. It had been in standby for 2.5 hours and ate almost 5% of the battery.

The location services features can be another power vampire. This permits different apps to see where you are so that they can serve up location specific information. You might need to review that list and shut that off to low priority apps.

Also, frequently review the multi-task (double click the home button) and shut down all the apps that you don't need running right now. Do this by "flicking" upward. I have had Waze (a navigation app) run in the background after I was done using it and suck down quite a bit of juice.

Now I'm developing the habit of occasionally reviewing the list and shutting down apps that I'm through with for the moment.
