Anyone else have this problem?
Without fail, everytime I want to post on this forum with my IPAD, I get about halfway through the message, and it suddenly shuts down the Safari window and reverts back to the home screen.

If I open up the Safari program again, it opens up to the editing page where I was at last with none of the text there, then I type it all in again and it works just fine.

And, amazingly enough, it lasted through the entire post this time. Stupid thing has to prove me wrong when I say something.:mad2:

Have the same issue- but only when I do not use the "Quick Reply" feature...

You might try writing your message in a note taking app, or even in Mail, and copy/paste it into Safari, so as not to lose your work.

Mine does it, usually when I'm halfway through composing a long post. Maybe it's trying to tell me something.

Even my iPad is a critic.
It just did it in my response. When it came back up, your quote was still there, but nothing that I had typed. It also did it on the other thread I made, which was really annoying, because it was after I had typed a bit.

So, is this some interaction between the forum board and Safari?

I've had my iPad do the same thing, not just in this forum. I've tried to check if I might be dragging my knuckles on the keyboard symbol in the lower right when typing, but I can't catch myself. Normally when safari closes, it reopens to the page but I've been logged out.

I've only noticed the problem since the last iOS upgrade.

Tapatalk- well worth the 2.99 I paid.

I use the Terra browser for a lot of stuff. Including this.
Plus Terra will spoof its identity as Internet Explorer. There's a site at work that demands IE, and is almost impossible to spoof, but Terra does it.

I have never had this issue, but I have not yet upgraded to iOS 5.

What does Tapatalk do for you anyway?

Gives you an iPad/iPhone interface that's easier to use than the web interface on a tiny device. It also (because it's a plugin that reads the database) strips the signatures and other stuff, be that good or bad. You only see the text and a tiny avatar per post which makes sense on a small device with limited screen real-estate.

Also since there's a ton of sites that run the plugin for their forums it tends to act as an aggregator for all those activities in one App without the need for bookmarks in the browser and such.

It stores login info and the main screen becomes "home" for the various forums you play in.

Also here it has the add-on plus -- since direct photo uploading is turned off via the Tapatalk plug-in -- of offering "Hosted on Tapatalk" buttons for a quick photo or screenshot upload from the device.

Some forums turn on the bandwidth and hard-disk sucking "Hosted on Forum" button. But, I can see why many don't.

I currently have about six aviation forums in mine on the iPad but spend virtually zero time at the others. Also have some automotive and other non-aviation forums in it. They're there in the same interface if I'm bored, though.

My only complaint is that Tapatalk doesn't offer a way to sync that stored login data between two devices so if I add a forum on iPad I also have to add it on iPhone. Probably the right thing to do privacy-wise, but it'd be convenient not to type login info in twice.

Oh the other answer: "HD" just utilizes the iPad's bigger screen better. UI is a little better for the iPad. Not really a "must have" purchase but I prefer its interface over the "zoomed" iPhone interface on the larger device.
