How do I make the autocorrect in my iPad learn my name, email address and website spelling? I can't just type any of them in without reaching up and tapping it closed. I figured it would eventually learn on its own, but after this many times, apparently not.

yeah there have been complaints since day 1 of iphones existence. No one's come up with a solution so the questions dried up.

However, there is one solution. If there are certain words that give you trouble you can add them to a contact name. If it's one of your contacts then it won't autocorrect it away thinking it's a name. So give that a whirl.
maybe you can do like 6+ words in one name or something. Not sure if it checks all the fields or just the name ones

Are you ever annoyed with the auto correct feature on iOS. Your iDevice doesn't really know what you always want to spell. It tries to force it's own auto correct on you, even if you don't want it. You can turn it off, but then you might misspell some important words. Well, ManualCorrect allows you to continue typing after you've misspelled a word without correcting it right away. If you have a word that is not in the iOS vocabulary, it will leave it how you spelled it and you can go back to fix it later. You can get ManualCorrect from Cydia for free.

And a video about an app called Manual Correct

Just double tap em to add em to the user dictionary in the Droid. I thought apple was supposed to be more user friendly?

Autocorrect is such a great feature there's a whole website dedicated to it.

I figured it out on my Droid phone first time around. The iOS is much more user friendly. It does so little that there is no confusion in using it. The reason you can't find a function is because it doesn't exist, or you need to jail break it and get an "illegal" app.

The autocorrect learns. Keep correcting it, after three times it'll remember your "non-standard" word.

If you're getting that app from Cyndia then that means you need to jailbreak your device.

No jail breaking for me. Just parroting som google finds. (and now back to my regularly scheduled pirate and saltine.)

I have typed my name & my email address at least 100 times each now and it still tries to perform the same exact nonsense every time. I thought it would learn too, but it hasn't. Maybe iOS5 will:rolleyes:.

That's just it, the "finds" require me jailbreaking which is a clusterflop in future utility. One false tap and you now own an iBrick like my 3GS.
The other solution is not a solution, it's a kludge.

Well now... Do you want your technology easy to use or flexible? Adding flexibility adds complexity. DO NOT ASK FOR MORE THAN STEVE JOBS WANTED YOU TO HAVE!!!!! :D

DRM can go FSCK itsself. You as the consumer are paying for LOTS of R&D to ristrict what you can do with a piece of hardware you own. The funny part is, it usually takes about 6 weeks for some kid to work around it :)
