Back in '98 I was at a 2-3 day golf school outside of Phoenix, and met a guy and his wife while sweating our asses off in August. Yeah, golf is cheaper out there in the summer time - and after that weekend I know why. Turns out he was roommates with Rodney Peete while at USC. Yeah, the quarterback, and Holly Robinson's husband. At the time he was an assistant director/producer for a show on the WB network that got axed pretty quickly after we met.

But, we kept in touch through the years as he moved up to shows that made it a little longer, He would fill me in on his progress within WB, and after he found out about me picking up flying in 2002 he'd always ask about what I was doing with that. But we've never actually been in the same place at the same time since we met on the golf course. He calls me up last night says that he and his wife are flying out here next month. I say there's no way they are staying in a hotel, and they get the spare room at my place.

I ask why they are coming out here and he said Warner Brothers gave him the reins on a show they are going to be filming here in West Michigan that will have some sporadic aviation content. He told me he wants me as a aviation content advisor for the show and also wants to have me audition for the role of a pilot. I was like, WTF man, I haven't done any 'acting' since a 3rd grade play. He said not to worry about it, he knows me well enough I should do just fine, and it's not like the part is going to be that big.

He's sending me the scripts from the first six shows next week for me to go over. So, that's pretty cool and probably the best early 40th birthday present I can think of.

So, Angelina Jolie is going to be your co-pilot?

:D

I do some work off and on for WB on the film side, and once in a while on the TV prod side. Mostly very good people, and lately pretty much everything they touch works well. Look for 'Edge of Tomorrow' coming out this summer/fall sometime. I worked on some of the data storage for that.

Sounds like fun. I'll try to find out what project it's for and see if I can fill in any of the blanks. I don't work with the TV prod guys a lot but once in a while I hear things when I'm out there.

That IS pretty cool! Will be interesting to see how the scripts are written and how this all pans out.

Ed Fred - movie star. :D

Gary

The timing of this sounds suspect. Just sayin'.

I guess we should start calling you Lowell now?

On any other day I *might* believe this.

I can't believe anyone would question Ed. A man who never jokes, never lies, and in fact lacks the capability to utter a falsehood.

Any traffic in the area, please advise.

Actually the first paragraph is 100% truth.

The second paragraph is about 50% true.

The last paragraph and two sentences are fabricated.

Just promise us you won't be repossessing any airplanes.

What good would that do him? He can't even sell his current plane.

:stirpot:

Who is this Ed person you all speak of? I used to talk to a guy named Ed in MI. He hasn't thrown an insult my way in quite awhile, I am beginning to think he doesn't love me anymore.

I was at Ed's airport Sunday. There wasn't even a for sale sign any where. I don't think he is trying to sell it.

But if someone turns up with a script for "Kung Fu CFI" they'll have to be looking at you for the lead role.

Funny thing, I also emailed this to about 50 people, and a few of them were at a wedding I attended this weekend. None of them had picked up on it being a 4/1 joke, and they were asking all sorts of questions about it.

So, you're only 40 years old? Whoo-hoo! I had always thought of you as at least 70.

He's very vigorous, but a crabby old bastard inside. We love Ed for that.

Eds mother would not appreciate that comment. As a matter of fact she may be along at anytime to box your ears.

Apology accepted :D

I know this sounds like Eddie Haskell, but shucks, ma'am, I'm real sorry, and I didn't mean anything by it!

P.S. I think it's cool that there is a mother and son team here on the webboard! I tried to get my mother interested in it, but she prefers political blogs!
