I've been asked to insure the 182 for hull insurance.

what's the price I should I put on it?

requires AOPA membership.

Yup. Use google to figure out what your plane is worth. Don’t know if there are other tools. But we can’t tell ya. Prices on Controller range from $50k to $490k.

Seems I can't find one near the same, When they have the upgraded engine they also have a much better radio package. frustrating

Why would an individual want to insure another individual’s aircraft?

Cheers

Because he was asked, and has owners permission and will be paid to do it?

“I’ve been asked to insure the 182” is different than “I’ve been asked to buy insurance for the 182 for the owner with his funds” which is why I asked.

Cheers

Where Did I say "BUY"
Think of it this way,, Tom ain't paying for nothing, I'm not the one who needs an engine broke in or a 182 ready to train their kid.

The Skylane in your pictures appears to be a 1973 P model. Very popular model.

I'd look up the asking prices for P models & figure they only get approximately 80 to 95% of asking price.

I would then add up the cost of the engine, prop, & annual & add 80% of that sum to the base price.

I appraise farm machinery on a daily basis & use a similar formula.

Remember the Golden Rule: Seller always thinks is worth much more than the prospective buyer does.

I insured my old 182 for what I thought it would cost to replace it. I think that's a DUH.

I thought I'd give you an opinion instead of being snarky as others have been.

What wrong with this forum?

I appreciate that. I've pretty much set the value at around 90K I'll see what the owner thinks in the next few days

$100k is a safe bet. Prices have been inflating
We will see what the owner thinks in the next few days, he may want to self insure, But I don't think that is a good idea because he is a deep pocket. Hull maybe, but liability no way.

Aircraft hull insurance is cheap for 182s, less than 1% of stated hull value per year.

Then take a good stab at it multiply by two. At least then you won’t be out of pocket to replace their airplane or have to worry about covering the deductible
