I'm scheduled to take the Instrument written 2:00 Tuesday afternoon.

For those of you who have used Sportys Study Buddy and Gleim, were the questions/answers on the actual written test pretty similar? The FAA no longer releases their questions to those companies in order to prevent people from memorizing the letter choices ('the answer to this question is A, the answer to this question is C, etc.).
Even with practice tests, although I come across the same questions with the same choices, the order of the choices is shuffled around. So for the most part I've gotten the criteria down, I just hope there hasn't been any new stuff about which I've never studied before.
 
Good luck DMD3. I can't offer much help. I used the King video course, but it has been a few years ago -- before the test was changed.

The ADF stuff still comes up in the Gleim book and during a Study Buddy test (those two have identical questions). Nice to know I won't see it during the actual test.
 
Good luck! I'd try memorize the answers then really learn how to fly instruments later.
 
Used the gliem,you get the questions ,but they mix up the answers so you can't memorize the answer choice by letter. There are usually a few questions you haven't seen before. Good luck on the test.
 
I try to memorize the answers on the knowledge questions, then actually figure out the approach plate, ifr chart or weather chart questions.
 
I've scored 93 and 95 on my last 2 practice tests. The best I've done yet.
 
When I took mine I didn't take any practice tests. I just studied till I felt I knew the material. I might be a slow learner but I figured I studied about 100 hours. On way to test I was thinking maybe I should study little more to be sure. Took it anyway... Got a 98

Sounds like you're very much ready.

I can't help you about your study aids, I used the King online video course and ASA. It was over 2 years ago now as well, and I'm sure there have been a lot of changes to the question bank. But as long as they are still sending Gleim et al. most of the questions (especially the bad ones ;)), you should have no trouble passing handily with practice scores like that.

I just took my IFR written a couple of weeks ago, and passed with an 87, so my experience is pretty recent. I don't remember any ADF questions, but there were several RMI questions.

There were a few completely unknown questions on approach figures I'd never seen... I got them all correct, because once you understand how to read the plate, pay attention to the details and note, you can get it.

There was also a question on how to use deicing equipment. That one caught me by surprise a bit, but I lucked out with a good guess.

If you've studied hard, you'll do fine!
 
I just finished with the Gleim study and passed the written last Friday. None of the gleim study questions were exactly the same as the test questions, but they were very similar. As long as you understand the material you'll do fine. My practice test scores ranged from 88-91 and my test score was 93.
 
Good to know that the Gleim questions mirror the instrument written exam.

I just started flying again after a 20 year hiatus, and am now toying with the idea of working on my IFR rating. It sounds like a real pain to get and keep current with, but I will likely do it eventually.
