The past few days I have been working from home. I had not been in contact with anyone from the office simply because there was no need to. I get a phone call today from my Washington boss,

"Hey landon I just wanted to call and make sure you were okay. I talked with (my boss down here in Austin) and he said you had not been in yesterday and this morning and had not heard from you. I was asking how everyone was down there with the plane crash and he pointed out that nobody saw you yesterday and had not heard from you this morning and you also fly planes............":rofl:

I almost couldn't talk I was laughing so hard. :mad2:

its nice to have occasionaly reminders that other people are thinking of you and care about your well being.

On the other hand, if a car had slammed into the building in Austin, injuring people and starting a fire, he would not have gotten the same call, even if it made the news ("... and you also drive...").

I had gotten several joking phone calls about it yesterday from family and other pilot friends. But this one was totally serious. It is nice knowing people think about me but it is true, had it been a car no one would have called.

What it all comes down to is all that REALLY matters is people.

Don't feel alone. When a 58 Baron augered in just north of Dallas 'bout two years ago, my cell phone lit up from friends asking it I was O.K. I had mixed emotions: nice that they thought of me; if something had actually happened, probably wouldn't want to be explaining that to a lot of folks right away--probably be busy with some other things!

Caller: Hey Dave, I heard about that crash near Dallas; was that you?
Me: Yea, it's me. I'm still stuck in the plane waiting for EMS: hold, I have another call.
2nd Caller: Hey Dave, I heard about that crash near Dallas; was that you?
Me: Yea, it's me. I'm still stuck in the plane waiting for EMS: hold, I have another call.
Me: to first caller: would you mind if I hang up to call EMS?
Caller: Sure; could you just tell me what happened first?

Probably go over my minutes too <g>

Best,

Dave

I'm going to have to do that next time. I also think I might call the same people back next time I hear about a car crash in their area.
