I don't get off on Cell Phones

Funny thing is I barely have need for a phone but I do have a lot of need/utility out of a pocket sized computer with internet access.

Same here, voice coms is barely used, text, email, and hotspot is the main use, occasional browser use.

Im not a phone fanboy....I do have a decent phone (Galaxy S4), but I dont keep up to date with all the latest gadgets. The only time I check them out is when my contract is nearly up.

Saying that...yes phones for $500+ can seem expensive, but when you think about the functionality you get from this tiny pocket sized piece of equipment its really great value. Most phones today have better specs than most PC's from not so long ago.

Unfortunately my G/friend IS phone crazy, which means I get to hear all about these fancy new phones on a regular basis. Luckily for me she hates apple which keeps my wallet happy when she does her frequent phone changes!

If they ever stop making BlackBerries, I'll probably go back to a dumb phone.

I like my Z10. A couple of quirks but overall it serves me well. It's the security aspect that really has me as a fan.

The new Passport will be available for ATT in a couple of weeks so my wife may inherit my Z10. But by the time she's done downloading all her apps she may as well have any other phone.

What I don't understand is all the kvetching about how the new 6+ is bending. Good grief, people putting those in tight jeans and putting so much stress on them, and then complaining about it...

Here's the thing on iPhones: You might as well get them when they first come out. They don't get much cheaper, and when they do discount them, it's because they're half way to obselecence. On the other hand, my existing phone looses value every day. Ditch the old phone when the new phone comes out and you may come out ahead, minute the two year commitment thing.

As for iphone versus an old flip phone: between flying, my job that involves commuting via public transportation, and a volunteer EMS gig that often involves hanging around, my iphone provides communication, information, news, entertainment etc., that fits in my pocket. In the grand scheme of things, it's pretty cheap for what it offers me.

On the other hand, my parents both have flip phones and could be happier.

I'm not too impressed with the spell checker on your whiz bang phone. :wink2:

Company supplied flip phone.......archaic I know!
I do have an Ipad. Bought it solely for Foreflight. Now I am hopelessly reliant on it for everyday tasks. I think it is because of the convenience factor.
The younger crowd fascinates me with their I-device obsession.
When I was in high school we obsessed about cam shafts, mufflers, paint, tires, wheels, etc.....
I guess with gas and insurance prices being what they are these phones and computers have replaced cars. Virtual freedom has replaced geographic freedom. I know young people 21 years old who have never gotten a driver's license.
A lot of kids dont like getting dirty anymore either......
Oh well, now I've made myself feel old.....think I'll go yell at someone to get off my lawn!!:D

iPhone6, sure - it's yet another piece of overpriced consumer-grade junk from Apple.

But did check out the Blackphone yet?
