OK, I don't want to give away too many hints, but, in order to steer the answer in the right direction I will say that I took this in a museum we visited on my latest trip to Europe. If you know where I went that is a good clue.

Did it originally have those openings in the skin? Or were panels removed / openings cut so you could see the innards of the missile?

Seriously? Thanks! I used my little point and shoot. After a while I get sick of lugging my big guns around - but the little one takes nice photos sometimes.
