HR 915

H) A project to construct secure bicycle storage facilities that are to be used by passengers at the airport and that are in compliance with applicable security standards
?!

I'm pretty sure the FBO would let me keep the bike in their hangar if I bothered to bring it.

My first comment is that it is long and boring for the most part.

This stuff caught my interest:

‘Sec. 45305. Registration, certification, and related fees

‘(5) $80 for issuing a special registration number.
‘(6) $50 for issuing a renewal of a special registration number.
‘(7) $130 for recording a security interest in an aircraft or aircraft part.
‘(8) $50 for issuing an airman certificate.
‘(9) $25 for issuing a replacement airman certificate.

SEC. 305. IMPROVED PILOT LICENSES
(b) Requirements- Improved pilots licenses issued under subsection (a) shall--
(1) be resistant to tampering, alteration, and counterfeiting;
(2) include a photograph of the individual to whom the license is issued; and
(3) be capable of accommodating a digital photograph, a biometric identifier, or any other unique identifier that the Administrator considers necessary.

there are a lot of people counterfeiting pilot "licenses"?

Supporters of the bill:

Airports Council International
Air Transport Association of America (ATA)
Regional Airline Association
National Business Aviation Association
Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association
Rockwell Collins
General Aviation Manufacturers Association
National Air Traffic Controllers Association
Air Line Pilots Association
Transport Workers Union of America
International Brotherhood of Teamsters
United Postal Service

AOPA in bed with the unions??? FedEx is the only one listed as opposing the bill.

This bill is a Christmas tree. I think Joe & Ric hit it right on the head...flying gets more expensive.

This is a real mystery to me:

Section 308 -
Requires the FAA Administrator to establish a pilot program to provide surveillance for aircraft flying outside of radar coverage in mountainous areas. Authorizes appropriations.
What constitutes "surveillance" in this respect? Was Capstone or ADS-B not enough?

Maybe they mean this.
Thanks, I hadn't seen that thread.

Anyway, since WAM seems to be operating already yet HR 915 is still in committee and yet to be voted by the Senate, I conclude at least the author of that section of the bill has something else in mind.
