How much do you use foggles / view limiting device after you get your IFR ticket?

Maybe I should post this on the anonymous forum.

I've been safety pilot to a few guys who did use view-limiting devices while practicing approaches.

In Colorado I use them around every other month. Summer is convective and winter is icing so in order to maintain proficiency I fly simulated quite a bit.

+1 ......only if I have to, in order to remain current.

Same.

I try to get approaches in IMC, but sometimes the weather and my work schedule don't agree with each other.

My daughter used to give them to novice rowers to teach them to keep their heads in the boat. Got to the point where I started making my own. Get some safety glasses, tape over the part you want clear, and then fog them with chemicals or sandpaper.

A fair bit. I'm almost always flying with other pilots so I like to fly under the hood and let them log time as well.

I used mine today actually! .... Of course.... I was doing a checkout on another aircraft :)

As most have stated though, If I can't get actual... then I use em' with a Saftey o' Pilot o'

I tape the parts that I don’t want light through. Sunlight through the “fogged” portion is distracting.

I do the same thing. People seem to stare at me when I am wearing them in Walmart...... Otherwise every 6 months on the check ride.

Not very often, try to get my holds and approaches in actual.

Are you also wearing neon pink platform boots with leopard skin shorts that don't cover your ass?

Go get some actual. Thankfully I live in socal where every couple weeks I can get some clouds

Before I got my instrument rating I couldn’t wait to go fly in the clouds. Now I have my instrument rating and still can’t wait to go fly in the clouds. Icing is a major obstacle up this way, so foggles are a necessity this time of the year if you want to stay current and safe.

How many actual IMC approaches do you do on the line?
The last full month I flew was January and out of the 34 legs, 8 were instrument approaches. It depends. Some trips, the weather is crappy all the time and we’re shooting an ILS almost every flight. Other times, I’ve gone an entire trip without touching a cloud.

I tape them on the inside and sandblast them. Then when I set them down, or throw them into the back seat, scratches on the lenses don't become blinding starbursts when flying towards or turning across the sun.

Pretty often - I don't get much actual, so I drag a buddy out and go under the hood/foggles. Or I fire up X-Plane.

On the subject of foggles, I purchased so called JeppShades, recommended by my flying club, yes, great idea but very poor execution, they fell apart in 5 weeks and this item has only 30 day warranty. I was surprised that such renowned company as Jeppesen stands behind such poor product.

Have you SEEN their software? Seriously.

I use them quite a bit. I don't get a lot of actual IMC so I like to shoot some approaches every couple of weeks with a safety pilot.

I have the "real" Foggles (brand name); they've held up well. Not a Jepp product, though. . .
