I held over Rosewood VOR one evening in a 727 for 1 hour and 45 minutes waiting on minimums to come up at CVG. We did 20 mile legs.

I also saved a record of one of my holding experiences...

We were holding for thunderstorms over KIAH and KHOU. I think we were the only ones who were patient (stupid) enough to stick it out. Everyone else gave up and went somewhere else.

That is true.

Looks like three circuits so six turns.
It wouldn't be fun if it was the obvious answer :D.

$2,000 worth?
 That's probably not far off, either.

30 passenger missed connections worth?
Actually, the flight is so massively over blocked that no one miss-connected.

Holy hell! I've never seen anything like that. It looks like something a really evil CFII would do.

My picture is actually 9 circuts (so as Scott pointed out, 18 turns). You can clearly see the first turn, the last turn (actually a vector from right over the intersection), and then everything else kind of runs together. That's how good of a job George (our affectionately named auto-pilot) did. 47 minutes in all, boring holes in the same cloud over and over. Gotta love New York approach on a perfectly clear night.
