How many POAers do you know personally?

Zero. Including myself.
Hey, I have proof I met you. ;)

I've met over 50, closer to 100, if you count all the aviation forums I've frequented. Some of these fine people have let me stay with them or at least met up with me as I've flown around the country. We've been honored to have some of them visit us at our farm. Only one of those people is now on my ignore list. ;) :D

As Spike said, many of these pilots have become very good friends, and I treasure their friendship.

One of these wonderful people is Joe Areeda, who took me flying around California in his T-28 the first time I met him several years. Tom and I are flying out to California in a month to stay with Joe and Viveca for several days. Joe has plans to take us flying around California just about every day we are there. :) Joe stays with us at the farm when he flies back and forth across the country, usually once or twice a year.

I am fortunate to have so many aviation forum friends that live nearby in our 4-state area.

Many of the female pilots here feel like sisters to me. One in particular is Kim Pardon, who lives in Kansas City. She started the Purple Board. Actually, I'm planning to fly up with another lady pilot (Barb) to spend time with Kim next weekend. In April, Kim and I are planning to fly down to Texas to spend time with Joyce Wilson, another lady pilot who posts here. I'm excited about that trip, too. Lots of good times with other 'forum' pilots yet to come. :)

I just remembered, there's another woman pilot I met up in Mio... Barb. She's an AME too. I don't remember her screen name though.

So my number is 6. (If Razor posts on this board then it's 7, but I don't think I've ever seen a post from her here, only on Babes.)

Like Diana, Lance, Spike and others---many. I'm not the schmoozer some are, but have many friends on here. Gaston's is where Ive met most.

Best,

Dave

Met Tom D today in Puyallup. Great guy in person. Missed Ron, and not for lack of trying.

Just met one today, that guy who is restoring what he says is only one of 3 Mooneys left in the world that still flies (ones with fixed landing gear). He was cool and we stayed in the hangar and talked about all the restorations.

I introduced a couple of people to the board. Neither have been around for a while but last I knew, they were still flying. I met a guy Doug in Taunton once. And then there is Toby Speed, who shows up once in a long while.
And Tracey, if you're interested, I can let you know when I'll be up at Nashua for the EAA Warbirds Breakfast. Should be early March. If you'd like to fly, and the weather is good, I can pick you up.
Then your count will be a solid one.

I'd say 6-8 that meet the stated criteria, and a larger number I met briefly last year at OSH but didn't get a chance to sit down for longer conversations with.

Certainly a number who "cross-pollinate" between the Aviation podcast/media circles and the social media world (Twitter, Facebook, MyTransponder) who are also here on PoA.

I'm going to up that number to at least 12 after thinking about it for a bit. And I'd love to meet or even just talk to more.

I went to Gaston's in '09 and met about 40 people. Nearly all of them post regularly on one of the rainbow boards.

I've met enough folks from the virtual world that there isn't more than one degree of separation between me and most of the regulars on the various boards.

It seems that the same anonymous trolls are held in low esteem on all of them. B)

Hey, ain't trollin'. Just sayin'.

Today I met Kimberly and her boyfriend. They are great folks and they arrived with beer. We did some hangar flying for a couple hours and showed them around our "restoration" of the famous fixed gear Mooney. She was especially enamored with our home brew air conditioner.

See people, I do exist. And I come armed with gifts of beer.

Two.

Had to add this line to get over the minimum message length requirement, which I didn't know existed until now.

Neato. :)

Really??? You don't have to ask me twice! That would be great! Thank you! Let me know the details and I'll plan on it!

Two and we even met them in person - Kimberly is one of them. :goofy: Considering that we live in Germany it's not too bad. :wink2:

Flat Stanley.

Not to be confused with Andrew. :D

Speaking of that, whatever happened to Hayden? Who has him (either in sum or parts?)

I've met a whole bunch of folks from here, including a couple that found their way to the "banned" list (Those who must not be named).

Too many to list, I don't even keep count.

I'd have to unfortunately say 0.

Then again, I'm new to the forum and my location so there hasn't been much of a chance to meet anyone.

I am international - ! I dragged them to an EAA meeting - hope they enjoyed it - our original plan was to fly (me as pilot / tour guide) but the weather was not on our side so we met one night instead and I suggested the EAA.

Steingar? Looking at the thread he may have been the last to have the pieces.

Hayden managed to stow away aboard the Free Bird during my and Missa's trip to 6Y9, but that was years ago. Had I realized Hayden was my passenger he would have likely met a very untimely end. However, I was blissfully unaware of his presence, and he arrived safely in the Mississippi of the North. I do not recall in who's aircraft he fled, but I think it was two, as Hayden was bifurcated at the time and I recall the pieces traveling separately.

I can think of two members I met on that trip who are now either banned or inactive. I can't say which, though I have my suspicions.

I wound up with one of the pieces... I *think* it's on the east coast now.

Peeps from that trip banned or inactive... hmm.... hmm... Banned?? Wow.

As for PoAers I know personally, shocked that it's more than 20 because I feel like I haven't met anybody; but it's easily more than 20, perhaps skirting 30+

Yeah, I'm looking forward to a fly in or something. Although I will be flying in the same way you did... on my 767 or something. :)

Wings is comming up and depending on where in New England you are, you may be able to hitch a ride. So much better then a 767. ;)

In person I'd have to say a couple dozen, none that I didn't like, flew cross country from LA to Atlanta by a relay of them (well, Red Board people too, most people dual netizens), have stopped in for BBQs and had a generally good time. I don't count phone calls... :p

4 for me, that I can think of. bbchien, DaveB, Maverick (who lives less than a mile away), and Moxie (RIP).

Oh wait, EdFred too. That's 5.

Whatever happened to Ed anyway? I haven't seen a post by him in months.

Me? and Razor too. I though you were at on of my first Dawn Patrol runs for pancakes at Port Huron.

Triple freaking coolness if I'm with you WITH my ticket too!! (And yeah, flying your parents must be amazingly cool).

Dad's always been cool to fly, Mom I don't bother anymore. She's like my ex wife, they are so afraid it's palpable in the plane.

Ahh, that's where I met you the fly in in Mio! and Barb's screen name is One Short.
