When I was in high school I applied for a pilots license. It was denied on medical grounds,now I’m trying again in my 30s. Problem is on the medical application it asks if had applied before and when. I can’t remember when I did! I don’t want to give a wrong answer so is it easier to just say no since it was half a lifetime ago and when I was a kid? I don’t want to get in trouble for putting a wrong date either. Or does the faa chuck it after so many years?

However, FAA will tell you. Call 405-954-4821 at 08:01 on Tuesday, identify yourself to them and they’ll tell you…..

For heaven’s sake don’t say “none”. That’ll be even worse.

But don’t call at 08:02. They’ll “experience high call volume..”. Sigh.

Oh, man, how much easier things would be if they didn't care about ancient history. I'm pretty sure I will never have a third class medical due to something that happened to me 25 years ago. But alas, that's how they operate.
 
Related is a concern IF the AME ever submitted the report of a Physical that was
never completed. The AME said he thought sugar was detected in the urine so the process stopped. Applicant never had the issue before or since. However; applicant donated blood about 1 hour before the Physical. AME said the draw would have no effect.

If the AME opened the application on Medxpress, the process was begun, and it resulted (or will result, if this was recent) in an issuance or denial.
 
“Related” occurred 30 + years ago. ( pre Medxpress) . AME no longer with us.
He was pressing applicant to become his patient. Is that ethical?

Bruce, does he need to have been issued a certificate to obtain his medical record? (I don't know if they keep records based on name and other identity information, such as SSN.) Obviously, this encounter would have been prior to MedExpress.

If they will send him their records, at least he may be able to answer the application question accurately.

  3. To authorize an electronic copy of your record be released to a third party please include their email address and daytime phone number.
  4. To help ensure delivery of your confidential record to the correct office, verify the mailing address with someone in that office; addresses found online may be incomplete or no longer current.
  5. Hard copy records are mailed regular post via the United States Postal Service. You may choose to pay for expedited mail service through FedEx by providing your FedEx account number.

No he doesn't. Any action by the agency, denial.....etc. is recorded.
 
Well when I call just get told lines are busy then they hang up. Not sure if doing a record request will do anything since I don’t have a date or certificate?

You have almost nothing to lose by requesting records by submitting this form. I'd just fill in the Medical Reference Number with something like "prior application" and the approximate year. You may have to go through similar steps even if you get through by phone. It even appears that if the cost of postage is less than $25 they just bill you.
 
Well I heard back from the FAA and it only brings up up confusion. They sent me a class III medical and only restriction was corrective lenses. I could have sworn I had a letter saying ocd waiver was denied. They wouldn’t issue a class iii unless I was good to go right? Is there any other medical records they may have I could request?
 
Was issued in 2006. But had the ocd issues then, could argue worse since I was medicated then

Right! That's why I said it sounds like he had a valid medical after 7/15/06. He might be good to go, as it doesn't sound like the medical was ever revoked.
 
You may want to keep that Class 3 medical handy and remember that you dreamed the OCD part because you'd heard another kid talking about it a meeting of your high school chess club or something.

The good news is, as stated above, it would seem like you're now clear for BasicMed if you want to go that way.
