hm - potential flight clothing choice

What about the rest of you?

I'd love to see the look on my CFI's face if I showed up to a lesson with a full flight suit and helmet.

Flame-resistant clothing went out of style when SZ was put out of biz.

If they are sold by Walmart, you can count on two things:

1) they are likely made in China

2) which means they will actually burst into flames and melt rather than provide any flame resistance

One does have to wonder how 100% cotton qualifies as flame resistant.
Then it turns out, that they are resistant to flash events - not necessarily to something like a cockpit fire.

But where will I sew on my phony Squadron Patches if they don’t have matching jackets?

Cheers

Even if they are not nomex, those jeans have to be some better than what a lot of people wear. Gyro girl for example. Oh, wait - what am I saying

100% cotton as opposed to synthetic fiber which will melt/burn at a lower temp.

That's nothing. Show up like this some time. OK, once... and have your plane painted to match! -Skip

Gross. It looks like a pile of human flesh was stuffed into that costume and then someone poked a hole in it just above the neck so it could squeeze out a head.

Turns out the person in the Tron Suit was a regular on POA a few years ago. Yes, he had this odd fixation on Tron but otherwise he was a nice guy and a meaningful contributor here on POA.

I miss Jay. He was a nice guy and a good pilot. I flew in his Zenith with him 10 years ago now.

He’s probably awesome, and has a GREAT sense of humor. Definitely not the first person to wear an item of clothing that was a bit too small. For examples, see *Yoga pants-Walmart.

You are correct on both assumptions.

Wait, aren’t pilots supposed to wear leather jackets, helmets and silk scarves?

If she starts wearing more -- I mean, something else -- I will hunt you down.

People literally have to pay me to wear nomex.

I'll just leave this right here...Gastons Awesomeness.JPG

I’ve know Jay since high school. He’s always been a sci-fi guy and a ham opeartor. He’s the one that got me interested in becoming a ham too. Haven’t seen him or talked to him in a lot of years, but I do hit his Google+ blog ever so often.

Last time I saw or spoke to him was when @tonycondon and Leah got married, so I guess that would've been about 9 years ago. He lived not too far from Esterville, so @Tristar and I flew up for lunch with him in the Aztec.

I really liked Jay, I wish he would've stuck around.
