I spent the afternoon washing my plane today. When I climbed in to do the windows, I noticed the altimeter tens of feet hand was at field elevation (x060'), but it was 1000' off! The last time I flew, the tower called new ATIS at 29.51" and "still falling" and I remember thinking, "Man, that's the lowest pressure I can recall flying in." And here it was today, precisely at 30.51".

Anybody been above or below that?

A little search and I found this

Q: What are the highest and lowest barometric pressures ever recorded?

A: The highest barometric pressure ever recorded on Earth was 32.01 inches, measured in Agata, U.S.S.R., on December 31, 1968. Agata is located in northern Siberia. The weather was clear and very cold at the time, with temperatures between -40° and -58°.
The lowest pressure ever measured was 25.69 inches, set on Oct. 12, 1979, during Typhoon Tip in the western Pacific Ocean. The measurement was based on an instrumental observation made from a reconnaissance aircraft.
An excellent reference for extreme weather records like this is Paul F. Krause's technical report Weather and Climate Extremes, the contents of which I haven't found anywhere online. The report can be ordered through the National Technical Information Service, which is part of the U.S. Department of Commerce.

The highest pressure I remember here was 30.34.

Austin was at 30.67 a couple weeks ago. The day before, it was 29.9 something. When I first looked up while the student was setting the altimeter, the needle was about 250' below sea level.

IT was 30.73 here in Jackson Hole Wy a few weeks back.. Plane flew great considering we are at 6500 MSL..:)

The range of extremes I've flown in: From 29.19 all the way up to 30.84. We had a big shift too - When I flew on Wednesday it was up around 30.53 and today it was down to 29.64.

I don't recall the highest pressure I've been in, but I recorded 27.something (probably >27.5) as a kid on Long Island during a hurricane.

I remember without doubt 27.32. I think there were some days a bit lower than that but don't recall exactly. The highest I flew in was 30.85. SLP
