Hey y'all..back when I had a job I had access to an ultrasonic cleaner..pro model, was curious if anyones got the larger unit from Harbour Freight and how good is it?
Thanks!

I don’t have one from Harbor Freight but I have an imported ultrasonic cleaner courtesy of Amazon. It has worked great to clean parts for numerous engine overhauls and other major repairs. When I bought it I just used online reviews as an indicator for which one might work the best and took a risk on it.

Mondtster...what size did you get and price range?

thanks

I’ve had mine so long that I don’t remember the size for sure. Looking at the dimensions of similar units on Amazon makes me think it is a 15L one.

I have the 6 liter one, I think it cost about $80. A tip I learned on youtube, depending on what you are cleaning, if you want to use a more caustic agent such as gasoline or solvent or simply want to avoid having to drain and clean the tank you can isolate the item in a plastic bag or glass jar with the solvent and just fill the tank with clean water. It will work just as effectively as it would without the isolation container.

I also have the small one. It works. It's over ten years old. I've never used a quality one, so I can't say how it would compare, but I'm more or less satisfied with it.

Nothing works better than an old Branson ultrasonic solvent vapor degreaser with trichlorethelyne.

If you want to just have fun with it lay a piece of tin foil on the water and watch what happens.

Tried to buy the larger HF unit 3-4 weeks ago but it wasn't in stock anywhere. Ended up buying the smaller 2.5 liter unit and it works just fine. I use a diluted solution of "purple power", an automotive parts cleaner. Amazon advertises units similar to the larger HF units.

Silvaire has the right idea, but I use a small mason jar for small parts, and glass bowls for larger parts.

Thanks Guys! Went with an amazon unit.

That was the first thing I did with mine to check the effectiveness. I was told that some units were not as good as others so I had to find out while I could send it back.
