DTO to LNL w/ an over nite stop on the way.
I want to do the 6Y9 fly-in weather permitting.

Intent is to leave that Friday after work. I can be wheels up around 5:30PM
Sunset shows to be a few minutes either side of 8:00 PM around the 1/2 way mark

Planning 165kts

I've not flown much further north than Southern Kansas and my preference is not to go venturing into new territory at night after an 8 hour work day (figure 45 minutes of actual work).

I am happy to land somewhere and sleep in the plane but if there are known FBOs in very safe areas somewhere along the route in the 400-450 mile range, I'd love some recommendations. Hoping to have 4-5 options in case of changing variables.

I'm a simple man so just the basics. An FBO with a couch on which I could crash. Maybe a shower.

If possible, cable TV would be nice, In scents, bath salts, nuru massage (if you don't know, don't google it), Hot coffee, cold beer, someone to feed me grapes, complimentary plane wash and oil change, some sort of meal that is a fusion of 2 countries that have fought in a battle against in one another, and that fancy Australian wine that you eat with chopsticks.

Those aren't musts but nice to haves.
Oh also, I have to have an assortment of Asian cheeses.

If any of y'all know some options en route, I'd be grateful for recommendations.

Must have a chute repacking facility on site too since you plan on landing a Cirrus.

165kts? - why not take the Grumman?
Out of infatuation already?

No, I love the Grumman but this is a go there trip. I need a go there plane.
the Grumman is what folks at the culinary academy refer to as "slow".

Plus, I want to reduce variables. 300 hours in the Cirrus. I am still more at one with the plane in the Cirrus at this point.
I'll be flying the Grumman to Gaston's. Its closer and I am familiar with that flight.

You could always stop in Kansas City and stay at the Flying D Ranch. We have lots of good airports here.

Make Jesse put you up for the night.

Or you can fly to FTG and I'll leave the hangar door unlocked for you. You could risk Nate's couch but I think he hasn't closed the lime pit.

My map shows Lincoln as being not on the way to Michigan.

You left out the Long Tall Woman in a Black Dress...

Just plot the flight direct and pick an airport thats near the route. Usually Class C or D the hotel will come pick you up. Call and see. Repeat until you find one.

Try KDSM or KIXD to start with. Lots of others.

Also, a lot of smaller airports have courtesy cars you can take to a nearby hotel.

I need to read the whole post first:

I got to "nuru massage" but not far enough to see the warning.

KMCI shows as only 4 degrees off of a direct route KDTO-KLNL and only adds 3 nm. It's also just under 400nm from KDTO. They probably also have the highest likelihood of bath salts, incense and massage.

Whatever route you take, swing by C91 to get me. I'm plane-less for now

Plus you can probably take shelter in the old abandoned A terminal (I think it's A?) Lot's of benches still in there to sleep on and no one to bother you. They have supposedly been tearing it down for years but every time we go to Kansas it's still there and that's still where they park us and run us through.

Terminal A is still there.

This report was just out today:

You should be able to stretch out a little:

It's further than you said you want to go, but KALO has a pilot lounge with comfy chairs AND a room with bunk beds you could sleep in overnight.

Watch out for the wasps, spiders, and rats that will be living there now. They're HUNGRY!

This may be a winner. I will start working on the blog post now. "Terror in the haunted terminal"
If you plan an early Saturday LNL arrival beware the fog. It can be common in those parts. Take lots of gas.

Thank you for that information sir!
I will fill the tanks wherever I stop

You probably know but will say it anyway. Watch the temperature-dew point spread and go for breakfast as appropriate.

By the way, MCI Class B is about as laid back as it gets. Feel free to ask for a touch and go when you swing by. The controllers love the extra traffic count.

I feel like this is a trick

Well depending on your arrival time at LNL you could either go to the Redman Supper club for dinner, or the Pine Cone for breakfast. Both are an easy walk.

If you are thinking of getting a rental car call Randy at LNL now as they will probably have high demand that weekend. You also may want to let him know to save you some parking space in case.

Ed offered to come get me or as he put it "In typical POA fly-in fashion, I will come get you and bring you to the grass field"
He is my personal pilot.

Sleep in a Cirrus???
