Hello to all here in POA,

Just found this forum searching for an answer to a simple question. Looks like a very active community here.

I am a newly minted pilot, check ride completed on 02/19. Started lessons back in July and just took my time (still completed in just under 55 hours). Currently flying out of McAir Aviation at KBJC, Rocky Mountain Metro (used to be Jeffco).

So that's a quick intro of myself to everyone. Hope to learn a lot from the folks here.

Kevin

Congratulations on the PPL and welcome.

Welcome to POA Kevin, and congratulations on your new ticket! There are at least a couple people here who fly out of KBJC and others who are based in the area. We occasionally get together for lunch at various airports, so keep an eye out for that if you are interested.

Welcome Kevin.
Keep your eyes peeled for Denver area get-togethers.
Also, have you considered joining the Colorado Pilots Association. It's a good way to meet local pilots.

If you're gonna hustle CPA, you need to let Kevin know how to reach it!

We attempt to take all simple questions and boil them down to the absolute most convoluted answers we can possibly come up with! ;)

Welcome to the gaggle. I'm relatively new here too, but folks seem friendly. Just don't bring up whether or not you like ketchup on hot dogs. That's a religious debate 'round here. Well, at least in the non-aviation areas of the forum. ;)

We all learn from each other.

How'd you enjoy McAir, Kevin? How's their fleet doing? Good maintenance? The newer Cessnas holding up well?

They were nice folks when I was renting back many moons and an 8-year leave ago. I stopped into the office to pick up a sectional or something when I was out and about at lunchtime since I work up that direction, but I live on the South side, and the airplane's based at KAPA... seemed like the place was still about the same as it ever was... not a bad place to hang out or rent an airplane and go flying!

Ugh, was just thinking about ... "Hey wonder when I can get some flying in now that the airplane's out of the shop?" and realized I'm out of town this weekend at the Cessna Pilot's Assn. "Legacy" C-182 course in California... then I'm back and the airplane becomes a pumpkin again and has to go in for Annual at the end of the month.

ARGH. It's been one of those years. I guess if we get lucky, all of this maintenance activity will stack up here in the first three months of the year, and then the airplane will get to fly all summer with normal oil changes and a bath... sheesh. I might get one flight in before Annual... then we wait and see if there's any more surprises for the wallet... LOL!

Oh well, side-tracked there. The point of me wondering when I could go flying again was to try to get the ball rolling on a "lunch flight" of the Colorado gang again -- it was nice to meet everyone once... time to do it again... but at this rate...

I'll see you all at Oshkosh! ROFL!

Howdy, and welcome to PoA!

Good to have another member from the northernmost reaches of Texas (grin).

Hey Kevin - welcome aboard and congrats on your new ticket! I fly out of Jeff-uh-Metro as well with Ten Hi Flying Club. Keep an eye out here as Murph springs some impromptu flying to breakfast or lunch get-togethers, altho some with very little warning. I think the last proposal was posted from the hold-short line :D

One of the other aircraft had dead front strut and we spent the day tracking down the problem & fixing it (assuming the A&P approves this week). Silly little O-ring at the bottom under the wheel pant. Find the jacks, jack the airplane, take off the wheel, take off the wheel pant, yada yada yada... Another reason I left the wheel pants off the cherokee years ago.

Well since you brought it up...this weekend looks excellent ('specially for those going to California for the C182 class). But how about us locals? Due to winds, winds, snow, more winds, I haven't been in the air for far too long.

This weekend - LaJunta (golf course restaurant), Canon City (and fly over SuperMax - always wondered why there's no TFR), Goodland, Pueblo, or other? Yuma, CO (2v6) has "cheap" gas ($4/gal) coming back from the east.

If we're really strong of heart, and the winds are light, over LaVeta Pass to Taos? Nah - we'll leave that for the CPA flyin in June and hope they fix the AWOS by then.

Someone make a suggestion...

(<<<--- the photo up there? that's Murphey as a puppy just out of the rescue shelter)

Just remember, "Hope" is a four letter word....:cornut:

BTDT with the Dakota - about 4 times. 1st time was the o-ring at the top. 2nd was the o-ring at the bottom. 3rd time was the o-ring at the bottom again ... we thought. 4th time was a rebuild of the cylinder. All good since then.

Well since you brought it up...

got my "no B"FR scheduled for Friday morning, with Saturday my backup slot. I'll have to RSVP at the last minute, I think.

Hahaha... you gotta love mobile technology!

How many people in Ten Hi, Greg? I didn't even realize you were in a small(ish?) ownership group there at BJC. Neat stuff.

Nate Nate Nate ... didja click the link? Well, didja? BWAHAHAHA .... :D

"Ten-Hi Flyers is a non-profit club that provides Denver area pilots with an attractive and affordable ownership opportunity. We are a Colorado corporation with a 45 year history, and our 45 members fly as proud owners of three well equipped, well maintained, reliable aircraft: a 1980 F-33A Bonanza, a 1988 Piper Saratoga SP, and a 1983 Piper Dakota."

I'm not all that sure I've been a member long enough to be so presumptuous as to welcome new members to the forum, but I'll take the chance anyway: Welcome to POA Kevin, and congrats on your ticket.

Someone make a suggestion...

'posed to get the Frankenkota on Friday so should be able to fly on Sat/Sun for lunch. Prolly can carry designated pax if said pax are willing to risk new avionics and probability of factory smoke release that goes with such. It won't bother me much 'cause I'll prolly be talking on the wrong freq anyway. La Junta would be different but I'm easy with any destination...

(and the radio coupler is supposed to be working now so I shouldn't have to fly a bit - jus' take-off and land like one of them there fancy airline gigs)

This designated pax will be in the aluminum tube (the one colored like SWA) headed west on Saturday. I'm sure LaJunta, or whatever, would have been more fun.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcomes. In just a short time I think I have found Nirvana or at least something close to that. :)

A possible new local association to become involved in, lots of new friends, and even a possible flying club. BTW, Greg, I have heard of Ten High Flying Club before. I actually picked up some literature from the display your club had during the EAA air show two summers ago. But alas, at the time I had no license and hadn't even started lessons.

Again, thanks for the welcome everyone of you.
