This (separating aircraft) is a thing that computers can do better than humans can do. Then you have the issue of getting humans to follow the instructions, which is required for success.
 
It's weird that the guy in the video complains about allegedly unqualified pilots when the article itself is about a case of controller error.
I don’t think the video was specifically tailored to the text article. Given that the #1 purpose of videos embedded in news articles is to generate ad revenue, the video served its purpose.

Regarding the suggestion to allow computers to do the separating, here’s a couple of points. KDCA has ASDE-X and that automated system should have provided a conflict alert. Recall that in the Haneda runway collision, the runway safety system did provide a conflict alert but that alert was only visual and went unnoticed by ATC. Also keep in mind that, at the end of the day, any computer-driven system is conceived, designed, constructed, programmed, tested, and maintained by humans. It’s tough to get the imperfect human out of the loop.
