Has 100LL prices influenced your flying?

Avgas (100LL) is now at $5.17 a gallon at KMYF. I know it has had a definite influence on the amount of flying I do, mainly because I am a purveyor of picture frames, which has not been a hot item lately.

I am wondering if others have been cutting back as well? I'm also wondering that if many of us are cutting back, can it not also be a factor in the continuing climb in price? Have we turned 100LL into a boutique item? Not so much being produced so the prices go up? The prices go up, so we cut back even more?

Weather has been the impacting factor for me. Trying to finish my IR, but with freezing levels around 3000 feet I'm not about to conduct icing experiments in a 172. My CFII fully agrees.

MOGAS without blasted Ethanol is harder and harder to find.

I haven't put more than 8 gallons of 100LL in the Chief in at any one fillup, so I can't complain.

In other aircraft -- yeah -- 80 gal @ $4.75 (local price) is a bit much.

No. The price of fuel doesn't impact my flying. It never has. Note this is for a cherokee 140.

What has stopped me from flying is taking care of two parents while working fulltime.

I don't know if has decreased my amount of flying by a measurable level. I am a lot more picky about where I go and I do a lot of research about fuel prices before going on a long trip. I don't know if I was such a stickler for looking for cheap fuel a few years ago.

With a Rotax and SAE spec fuel hose, I don't worry about the ethanol. But if you have the aircraft standard MIL spec fuel hose you need to be VERY careful. A cow-orker (with the MIL spec lines) had his engine shut down on takeoff because the fuel hose had swelled shut and cut off the fuel to the engine (landed straight ahead without any further issues).

Weather affects my flying more than the price of 100ll. If I flew more it would be an issue.

AvGas prices haven't influenced the amount of flying I do. The reality is that the planes I operate cost more per hour in MX and other expenses than they do in AvGas. Don't get me wrong, lower fuel prices would be nice, but the parts prices are the real killer. Example: one of my de-ice boots went out and needs to be replaced at a cost of $1500 + labor.

Weather has been the more limiting factor for me. Getting the weather to coincide with my schedule hasn't worked out yet. :wink2:

Weather and time, not fuel. For months now, the weather sucks on the weekends I am free, and it's beautiful on the weeks I'm not.

When I was young I had time and no money. Now I have money and no time.
