Fun day today. Took my plane in to get a new tire, and took the opportunity to fly the Cessna, which I haven't done in a few months. Flew it down to MTO to meet my wife who was shopping with her mom and our youngest. Grandma took the little one, and we went to an antique store where we found this super cool thing:

They wanted $200 for it, so we reluctantly passed.

Flew back to cmi, went to retrieve my bird from the shop. There's always something going on here. Charter 737, Airlife helicopter, Citation, Lear, another bizjet I didn't recognize. Also saw a Blackhawk fly over while I was chatting with my mechanic.

My rule is that if I pull my plane out the hangar, I fly her. I was down to about 2 hours of gas, so I took her to my favorite fuel stop, DNV, where I got the surprise of the day:

Got home and added up my logbook; crossed 600 today. Fun day.

... and the day just kept getting better! Love these stories

Nice! I still get a fuel surcharge @ KARR for their rentals. In the twin its $70/hr (modeled after a $7.80/g rate) :(

I was floored. They've been 5.06 for months, which if it wasn't the cheapest in the midwest, was close. I check the tank gauge occasionally, and could tell they would be getting another load soon; I was expecting an increase, not a 70 cent drop. Going to have to start flying more at these prices :D

CMI is $6.68. Paid 6.39 at MTO, but the Cessna is a wet rate and I get reimbursed for that. I would've taken it to DNV just to save the club some money had I known.
