One of my dads customers dad is a lear pilot and I got promised a right seat ride! But, can I log SiC?
Do you have a multiengine rating? One of my dads customers dad is a lear pilot and I got promised a right seat ride! But, can I log SiC?
Not yetDo you have a multiengine rating?
§61.55 Second-in-command qualifications.
(a) A person may serve as a second-in-command of an aircraft type certificated for more than one required pilot flight crewmember or in operations requiring a second-in-command pilot flight crewmember only if that person holds:
(1) At least a private pilot certificate with the appropriate category and class rating; and
(2) An instrument rating or privilege that applies to the aircraft being flown if the flight is under IFR; and
(3) At least a pilot type rating for the aircraft being flown unless the flight will be conducted as domestic flight operations within the United States airspace.
A Lear is a 2-pilot airplane, so you can't serve as a second in command without a multiengine rating, since that would be the "class".
True, keep in mind that there needs to be a legal SIC in the airplane too since you can't serve as the SIC.oh well just a thought, Will be a fun ride though
And why the heck not??? Taking off on a cold day in a light 25 is the closest I was ever going to get to flying a fighter.Let's just hope it's not a 25.
I remember my first time in a jet. Damn stuff happened so fast I didn't know what hit me.
Of course after a bit of practice it was not hard and anyone can get the hang of it.
But that first takeoff was a true kick in the pants.
Gear, flaps, then major power reduction to not blow through 200 kts. Add a DP and it's crazy.
17,999' would be legal. It would need to be below 18,000'.as it might have been already stated instrument rating as no lear usually cruses below 17999
Nothing against the airplane. And why the heck not??? Taking off on a cold day in a light 25 is the closest I was ever going to get to flying a fighter.
Nothing against the airplane.
It's just that ... um ... you are not allowed to fly one in the US anymore. Banned for numerous reasons. You can pick up a used one for about as much as a used 182 would go.
