Rats...the dealer is 2 hrs away by air, 4+ if I drive. I should be able to remove the unit and ship it to the dealer or spend an entire day and drive it over if the weather gets bad.

I get occasional false "own traffic hits" from my GTX345, any idea if this helps address that? Also any idea if this improves issues with the GTX345/GTN650/Flightstream 510 working together?

I've been watching for those, last was November 2016.
They are aware of the issue with weather getting transmitted to the iPad from the Flightstream 510 when it's in a suite which also has the GTX345 installed. It's an annoying problem which I hope is fixed soon.
Just got this from the dealer, but I'm baffled. If it's a software release by the manufacturer, why does thr FAA need to explicitly bless it?

Because there is unapproved software and approved software. TSO approval is not an installation (into the airplane) approval so the STC must be revised to include the new software. This can and typically requires revising the FAA approved Airplane Flight Manual Supplements and Instructions for Continued Airworthiness documents, which are provided to the owner, as well as the other STC documents, manuals, drawings, master document lists etc, used by the installers.
Everything has been structured carefully by lawyers for your safety.
For instance, say you were ramp checked the FAA sees a GTX345 and may be interested if the software level in the radio matches the airplane flight manual suppplement.

I will assume that the GTX 345 being installed in my airplane as we speak will be compliant. But I forwarded that S.B. to the installer any way.
When I had a new GNS 530w installed in my Cessna a few years ago, the day I picked it up from the Avionics shop was the day Garmin announced the new GTN 650/750 series.

I've been waiting for the software update that will allow the FIS-B data to go from the GTX345, through the FS510 in my GTN650, to my iPad...but I don't know if this is it or not. Anyone have it done yet?

Yep, I'm in the same boat. Let me guess, no FIS-B weather appears on the iPad, or else it's heavily "delayed." Yet, traffic displays fine and two-way flight plan transfers also work fine.

We just got our Citation out of the avionics shop with new twin 750's, 345R/335R, and FS 510. I have only flown one leg using the Ipad but it had both XM and ADS-B weather on it. This was using Garmin Pilot, you had to pick XM or ADS-B but it was easy to switch between the two.

It would not help me because our 345R is mounted in the nose and we cannot receive its Bluetooth signal in the cockpit.

Mine was installed in February, and it shows FIS-B on the ipad. It is bluetoothed to GTX345 and FS510. Don't ask me how, dealer set it all up, and said here it is, dummy.

Thanks. That SB has made no sense to me ever since Garmin told me the only fix for the FIS-B weather problem using the GTN/FS510/GTX345 trio was to pick EITHER OR of the bluetooth sources, not both -- which works. However it means one of my iPads can do two way flight plan transfers/etc. but doesn't get weather, and the other one gets all the weather but no integration with the FS510. I keep waiting for this problem to be solved...

Certainly, as will both of my iPads. Not an issue. The problem is when bluetoothing to both the GTX345 and Flightstream 510 simultaneously, no FIS-B weather is successfully transmitted to the iPads. This is a known issue by Garmin and they're working to correct it.
The SB is strange because the recommended action is exactly opposite what actually needs to be done to resolve the problem. Also, resolving the problem in this way restricts the functionality that was sought buying the equipment in the first place.

Does the 345 work for reporting to the ground?
It's no secret I hate tablets in the cockpit. I'm going to be really ticked off if we put a transponder in that needs an SB.

Wow, modern GA has to just drive you crazy, then... just about everyone is using an iPad or some other form of EFB these days. Heh, heh.
I'm a big fan of them, but only if they're used properly. When that is the case, they're of huge benefit on the flight deck, especially single pilot IFR or VFR. Big distraction and workload reducer, big multiplier of space and utility, and great tool to integrate the outside world (flight planning before the flight, ADS-B weather/traffic in flight) with what's going on inside the cockpit.
Not really sure what this SB is about, but the problem I'm alluding to above is related to some kind of interference between the Flightstream 510 and GTX345's bluetooth features which causes big delays or total stoppage of the FIS-B weather transmitted to the iPad (Foreflight or Garmin Pilot). The traffic still comes through, but not the weather. Weird problem. I use two iPads in the cockpit so I leave one bluetooth'd to the FS510 and the other to the GTX345. This way I can still make flight plan edits on the GTN650 with one iPad and get the weather on the other. It's definitely not ideal because now I don't have all of the iPads automatically syncing to the GTN650. I've been waiting on pins and needles for Garmin to get this fixed.

Anyway, to follow up on my slight thread tangent, I talked to Trek Lawler at Garmin about my particular issue, and he said that the problem is with the GTN series, not the GTX345 or the Flightstream 510. They have a 6.4xx update coming out hopefully by the end of the month. He said they were poised to release it but came up with some "last minute problems." So for anyone else still dealing wit the bluetooth FIS-B weather issue I described (it's not app specific) the GTN update should fix it. It will require the dealer to install it (bleah.)

That should be a warrenty software update IMHO. Of course some folks will still have to take time out of the day and burn gas to move the airplane to the dealer to get it done.

Thanks for the more detailed explanation of the issue. My Dad is scheduled to get a GTN650 & FS510 next week, he doesn't have a GTX345 but a GDL88 so I'm curious if he will see any issues.
I would be in your exact shoes if I had bought the FS510 tho.

You are correct! And yes, I've done as Garmin has recommended, Bluetooth connection to both the FS510 and the GTX345, but it hasn't helped. If I disconnect from the FS510 and only connect to the GTX345 I get what I am after, but then I lose the ability to transfer my flightplan to the GTN650. Having that ability was extremely useful this past week while flying down to Florida to retrieve my parents.

Yeah, it's a great feature. I use one iPad for weather (bluetooth'd to GTX345) and the other to the FS510 (for flight plan transfer.) Still a pain in the rear, it's really nice having everything in the cockpit update automagically whenever an edit is made. I am anxious for this GTN update to fix the problem.

I'd be happy if the damn bluetooth wasn't so damned flaky. We have an old version of the G1000 software since we are a non WAAS install in a Diamond, and with 2.05 the BT stability is not good. It is sort of ok in compatibility mode, but in regular mode if cycles in and out on the ipad, about every 15-20 seconds.
I see no mention in the release notes on what G1000 version it is compatible with.

Already on it. Immediately upon receipt of that notification (I received it too) I fired an email to Trek asking him if this would solve our problem. Will report back when he answers. He's usually pretty quick to respond.

The one I got was nothing more than revising a current bulletin to Rev. B to show that it is EASA approved.

I noticed it stated v.6.21, which I believe is the current SW version. Informally Trek had told me 6.4xx would solve the problem, so I'm not too hopeful this is what we need, but I'll let Trek decipher it.

There are software updates available for both the GTN & Flightstream now. Unfortunately the STC (installation approval) still needs revised to incorporate these changes.

Okay, so I've done the GTN update, and I am now getting FIS-B data on my iPad through Foreflight. The only annoying part is that I still seem to be seeing the map overlay that says "Radar Data Not Available". Anyone else get this done yet? As an aside, I don't think I got an update for the Flightstream 510...there wasn't a new one available according to the Garmin software update site that the shop used.

Interesting. The shop yesterday didn't see any updates on the site, and neither did I. I was looking right over his shoulder as he checked. Nonetheless, FIS-B is being sent to my iPad now, so I'm a happy camper. Anything worth noting in those updates though?

So here is what I'm getting after updating to 6.41 on the GTN. I AM receiving FIS-B into my iPad now, but ForeFlight is showing a "Radar not available" overlay as well with it. It's kind of distracting and can make it hard to read what is underneath the overlay at times. I've sent an email to Foreflight asking about it. Anyone else get this done yet? I'm kicking myself for not updating the FS510 and GTX345 at the same time. Wonder if that would've made any difference. I was just focused in on this.
EDIT: I just received an information update from ForeFlight. After looking into my issue I am told that this is an issue on Garmin's end that they will have to fix. If you want FIS-B, go ahead and get the update, but if you want to hold off and wait for Garmin to fix it (so you don't have to pay for the update twice), I wouldn't blame you.

Foreflight says that Garmin says that it is a Garmin problem? And that is an acceptable answer?
Glad I don't use Foreflight.
Try it this way: Vendor 1 says the problem is with Vendor 2 and they are tracking Vendor 2's progress to address it.
Fast forward a week, a month, a year: Vendor 1 says "we're tracking it"
