Great Lakes Meet Up

The free bird made landfall at its home base safe and sound. It enjoyed its visit to Moraine as did its occupants. Many thanks for superb hospitality.

A great day all around...was fun seeing old friends and meeting new.

And thanks to Ed...was restful for us after the last few days of traveling.
 
Sooper Soon-to-be-Yooper RV is back on terra firma!

Choppy ride at both ends, but smooth-ish in the middle. There may or may not have been an airsickness incident.

Arrived to find a very flat tire - replete with embedded object - on the land vehicle. Swapped it out for a spare to make the drive home.

Tim & Jeannette - Thank you! It was a beautiful day Moraine (cloudy and 48* back home) with great food and friends. A wonderful way to start the flying season!

This never happens, but it did today.

The tailwind down was greater than the headwind back. :eek:

Happened for me too... some of it was updrafts though, since I was seeing airspeeds 135-140 kts a lot of the time. Saw ground speeds mostly 120-125 kts.
 
We were getting as high as 200KTs (9,000') eastbound, but only around 125KTs westbound (8,000'). At 6,000' we were maybe 15-20KTs faster, but really getting kicked around.
 
Robert and I had a great time, as well, even though we drove up rather than flew. There were a number of folks I hadn't seen in years, and I enjoyed getting to catch up with everyone. Tim, thanks so much for organizing this. Laurie was sorry she wasn't able to make it.
 
I had a great time, hopefully I'll be able to make more of these! It was really nice to put faces to names and see some beautiful airplanes.

Sorry I missed it!! It was a great day to fly.

I had volunteered for a dog rescue flight that took a while before all the pieces were in place and it finally was able to go yesterday. Two of the dogs were from a hoarder situation and the third was to be put down on Tuesday. See photos of the cuties.

So instead I flew to Indianapolis to pick them up and bring them up to West Bend, WI where they too their third flight of the day to MN and hopefully furever homes.

Grant sent me a message that Mike has sent me a care package of leashes. THANKS!! I was going to go to the pet store today and get a couple. So this helps a lot.

Hopefully will get to one of these events soon. It has been a while for me. I have not even been to a 6Y9 fly in a couple of years.

Had a good time and was great weather for flying. Thanks for putting everything together Tim! Stopped by middletown on the way home for a bit too.

That is an awesome panorama! Also, I am currently sunburned - sat in front of the hangar in the sun for a bit too long. It was such a beautiful day yesterday!

One definition...menacing or threatening in appearance <surly weather>.

I thought you as well as everyone else I chatted with were pretty cool! I liked the plane too, 3 blade and tip tanks. Darlene is looking forward to a 6Y9 trip, may not coincide with the fly-in though.

I think we laughingly had that conversation on the flight back!!!

Tim: A mom's natural instinct is/should be to defend-however- there are times when I roll my eyes and think "You're on your own on this one." :lol::rofl:
 
Parents have that right, but we try to keep the eye rolls private. LOL

Ask J about some of the eye roll moments I have had with Ashley.

OK, after all the jocularity it is time for my thank yous. I couldn't do this without the help of my wife Jeannette, heck I wouldn't even be flying if it weren't for her, but that's another story, my close friend Art who took care of the cooking. I need to get him in the air again soon. The dogs, brats, and buns were provided by Rick a local POAer. Big thanks to Flyingmoose (Matt) for the use of his hangar. Mike Green another local POAer provided the coolers and ice. Also had a lot of help from son, Evan and POAer AJ with everything from chairs to refreshments to cooking.

I big thank you to those who took the time and $$ to fly to Ohio. It was a pretty turbulent day but you came anyway. I am always amazed at how everyone finds someone to talk to. Special thanks to Dr Bruce and his lovely wife Sue for bringing two close friends Grant and Leslie all the way from Illinois.

And of course my MI friends.

Now, it is time to abandon this fine thread by someone starting one for the next gathering, who is it gonna be??????

You are welcome for the leashes/etc. I have a ton thru a shipping mixup from China from a friend's pet store.. So trying to get as many to volunteers as I can..
Thanks Grant for delivering (and I guess Dr Bruce for airfare)..

Were those some dogs from Campbellsville KY ? I've flown for Joyce/Kat down there a few times. Seems they always have a ton of dogs going north.

And thanks Tim to organizing - good turnout and nice weather planning. Got my first farmers tan of the year.
