As the title says, I'm doing my written tomorrow. Any advice? I've been using the Sporty's app pretty steadily, I've studied the Gleim review book, and I'm going over some of the weather and performance stuff in the Jeppesen PPL book in more detail tonight.

Have a small drink and relax tonight and get plenty of sleep. If you’ve studied and done the prep work it’ll be a breeze!

Think of it like a spelling test that you took back in the 6th grade. The same principle applies. You either know it or you don’t.

GL!

Relax. If you studied, it’s an easy test. I honestly don’t recall hearing of anyone who didn’t pass it.

[humor] Just shoot for 71%. Anything more is wasted effort and over studying[/humor]

Usually the more challenging questions are the flight planning ones involving all the math. So practice those and practice E6B use.

And unless they improved the test supplement, the scale of the sectionals is not the same as the plotter in your hand. And they know that and will use that to provide a wrong answer. So double check the scale shown on the page and use some scratch paper to create your own based on that particular Figure.

Read each question and EACH answer choice carefully, as often one word will change the entire meaning. Skip around and do the easy questions first. After you have answered all the questions, double check your answers--but don't change an answer unless you are SURE your previous answer is wrong.

Don't know how old you are but if you use reading glasses take an extra pair. I had to use my extra pair to magnify some of the sectional information.

Good luck

If you don’t know an answer, skip it and come back to it. Sometimes a subsequent question will help you with the answer. There is plenty of time, so don’t let yourself feel rushed.

Relax, get a good nights sleep. If you understand the material, you should have no problem. Good luck.

Thanks guys! I'm getting a quick workout in, then I'm going to relax a bit and get some rest. I reviewed weather a bit this afternoon and re-read some of the right-of-way stuff. I'll let you all know how it goes.

Good luck, get a good nights sleep.

I’m always curious why people sweat the written. It’s baaically spoon fed to you ahead of time (In my day it WAS spoon fed to you ahead of time, no *basically* about it).

Sheesh, if you can’t pass the written with flying colors I seriously would doubt your competency level for the certificate.

Before you start answering questions, familiarize yourself with the test supplement sections that replicates the first parts of the A/FD and a few other publications.

There are a surprisingly large quantity of test answers there. While you might have memorized many answers, that's the place to look when you are drawing a blank.

Thanks!! Now for my checkride on the 24th.

I also befriended the airport cat while at my testing center.

And since you'll be getting that checkride done before October, you'll be coming to join us at the Gaston's fly in..... right????

Find out if your DPE has a cat. While I was talking with my DPE on the phone to cancel the oral and practical tests due to Wx, he said, "I see that you live in the next town over. Why don't you come to my house and we'll knock out the Oral portion". OK, sez I.

Later, during the exam, the DPE's cat wandered into the exam room.... err living room, jumped into my lap and went to sleep... and began to snore! DPE: "Wow, she never does that with strangers!"

So I passed with a strong recommendation from the Mouser in Chief!

92! Thanks for the advice!

You get results right away? When did they start doing that? Yeah, it’s been awhile since I took a written. I figure you don’t know, but someone will. You used to have to wait for them in the mail

That's a cool story. I am sort of the cat whisperer, so I could hopefully pull such a feat off. And if your DPE views people the same way that I do, if my pets like you that's good enough for me.

Yeah it's computerized. Got results right away. Also found out which ones I missed, but not why I missed them.

What is that?
It is one of our annual "family reunion" style gatherings at a very nice fly in resort in Northern Arkansas. Near Flippin and Mountain Home.

https://www.pilotsofamerica.com/community/threads/gastons-fly-in-2018.108291/

Lots of tall tales, airplane rides in other peoples aircraft, teasing Br-y-an about trading his CAPS cute for a sliding canopy, and much more fun and frivolity.

It's a chance to meet in person the different folks and personalities you find habitating our forums.

It's worth attending, really it is.

Found the thread. It looks fun. It also looks like something I couldn't afford to do in an airplane lol. Would I be allowed if I brought something that was British, air cooled, and... two wheeled?

Yes....

And post in the thread that if someone coming down from the north could give you a ride....

You're coming in a Sopwith Camel?
That'll be even cooler than Br-y-an's ride!

Speaking of Br-y-an, how far along have we gotten on collecting the donation needed to have him land the Cirrus under canopy?

Take it, pass it, forget it. It's mostly a FAA full employment hoop. If they dopped it altogether, just did the oral and checkride, it woudn't make an ounce if diffrence.
