Google Earth Hacks

Very cool. I've often stumbled across one here or there. I have to find it again, but there is a hack to overlay sectional charts onto Google Earth.

Speaking of Google Earth...

Who knew?

Special thanks to EAA for this one. You probably already have Google
Earth on your computer... but did you know the program also includes a
novel "Easter Egg" especially for flight enthusiasts? By hitting Ctrl-
Alt-A on your PC (or, for Mac users, Control-Option-A) you'll open a
built-in flight simulator, which allows you to "fly" through Google
Earth's stunning virtual world in either a Cirrus SR22, or an F-16!
Granted, the flight experience comes nowhere close to duplicating the
best from Microsoft in that regard... but you'll be too busy marveling
at the images to care much about that.

And, you can see any airport in the US in Google Earth by clicking the square blue button at the top of the airport page in FlightCentral.net.

Also, you can see a state view of all airports, color-coded for flight rules, and with current METARs in Google Earth from the airport search page (by state).

This image of the Florida east coast is from this link: http://www.flightcentral.net/Airports.aspx
Select "Earth" in the Florida list entry, tilt with the control at the top upper right. Click an airport to see the current METAR.
