What's a good but not-too-expensive ANR headset, suitable for occasional use by passengers?

I fly with a Lightspeed Zulu 3 and love it. But I don't love my wife enough to drop that much change on another one...

Recommendations, please?

Look out for a decent second hand Lightspeed Sierra? That's what I have for my copilot seat. Lightspeed often do trade-in deals if you have an old passive headset to trade in, too.

For occasional passenger use? Whatever sturdy thing you can find a good deal on. I got an older Telex model for like $150. My only gripe with it is that the control box is huge. Now my 4 year old uses it and it’s great.

I earned my instrument using this headset, and now it’s in the T Lance for my future pilots to use. The 7 year old claims at the top of his lungs “ it’s mine, give it back” if anyone tries to put it on. It’s really not bad at all. Also have Halos and a set of Sierras, of which the oldest claims the nice ones are his(Sierra). Wife and I rock Halos.....cuz it doesn’t give her “headset hair” and I like the way they look on me all pro like and such, ya know.

This works well and occasionally goes on sale for $225...

I have the same headset from Gulf Coast Avionics. (Same company?). Picked it up on sale at SnF for about $200. I’ve been very pleased with it so far. Sounds good, comfortable enough with cloth ear covers installed.

Mrs. Fast, of course, couldn’t find anything comfortable for less than the $900 we dropped on a DC One X....

I now own you.

My thinking is....if my wife enjoys aviation theres no ball busting what I'm spending on flying. Theres less push back when talking about buying a plane. Opposed to if she hates it, now it's just me "spending money on myself," at least that's how she spins it. She's probably right to some degree, but if the whole family enjoys aviation we're all happy. I'm not going to let a couple g's get in the way. Jmo. My wife has a set of a20s.

I have had an early model since 2004 and it still works great. It has been in -48f to 130f. Plus I can repair it myself if I need to. I did add the thick ear seals to it.

I use the Faro ANR models. They can be found brand new for $300ish. They are excellent.

I bought this for myself, before I ended up with an A20. I can use either, which is nice because this is cheap enough to leave in the car without worrying about it. Passengers haven't complained. It's $300 or less and runs on AA.

I ended up ordering the Flightcom Venture V90ANR from Marv Golden, best price I could find was $380-something. Maybe now she won't divorce me right away...
