I posted this on BT as well. I am having a pair of GI275’s installed with an existing GTN650 in the panel. In my review of the 275 operating manual it appears that I can update databases wirelessly via Connext. It appears that it will synchronize with the GTN. If that is accurate then I will be able to remove the FS 510. Can someone confirm this?

I can usually update the 275’s via database concierge, but it is erratic. It will not cross fill to the 750, though. The 750 won’t take charts updates via database concierge, either.
I gave up on the wireless updates - too many failures. Now I just update the 275’s with a stick, and the 750 with a spare HD card. I still have to update my 430 the old way anyway.

Thanks Eric. I have a Flightstream 510 that has been flawless in updating a GTN650. I was hoping that I could update all 3 Garmin units at once via Connext and a 275. I hope that the FS510 will allow updating all three. I’ll know by the end of the week.

Yeah - I think it will crossfill to the 275’s from the 650 - that has worked for me. I’m just frustrated with the wireless.

More careful reading of the manual confirms what you are saying Eric; the 275’s can synch from another Garmin LRU but not send databases to the LRU. Hopefully my FS510 is still reliable after all the software updating associated with this panel upgrade is completed.

…and after talking to Garmin support, they recommended updating with a 128g HD card rather than the 510. I’m not real comfortable putting the 510 in a PC Card slot.

Yea….frustrating to spend the money on a 510 and only get BT capability. I would think that repetitive insertion and removal of the 510 would increase chances of it failing. The only reason I bought one is for wireless updates and flightplan transfers. Now, it seems that the 275 can handle the FP transfers. Hopefully I retain the wireless DB updates when the dust settles.
