Germans making Zeppelins - Getting nervous

Wow built in Hamburg? I'd figure any new Zeppelins would be built in Ludwigshafen.

At $495 for a one hour ride I can't imagine bookings fro flights will be a long term problem.

Sure would like to see it docked while driving by Moffet though.

"Oh, The Humanity!"

Don't you mean "the huge manatee!"?

Are you kidding? I'd pay it. I stumbled across the Aluminum Overcast when I was coming home from Hilton Head almost 3 years ago - dropped 425 on the spot, no questions asked, for a chance to go for a ride in it.

Shouldn't that read frederickshafen?
FWIW I toured the fantastic zepplin museum when I was over there this summer, and had a great time.
I tried to take a ride in the Zepplin but it was waaay too expensive for a half hour of fun.

I was thinking the same thing. I have a meeting next year out in the bay area and am hoping they are still in business so I can go fly in it!

I wonder if John and Martha have a zeppelin rating. :dunno:

Damn! They DO have every possible rating! Truth in advertising for the Kings. :cheerswine:

Great research, Lance.

Well, when you buy your airplane, and realize that $425 will give you X number of hours flying it, you may think differently. I'd love to fly in a B-17, though, more than a Zeppelin.

I saw it as a once in a lifetime chance - who knows when I'd stumble across it again.

I did however find out subsequently that were I an EAA member it would have been 300-something. I'm surprised they didn't offer to let me join on the spot - if I'm going to pay it anyway I may as well be a member.

Must be a real bear to stay current in all that stuff!!!

Plus it lets you go to Osh Kosh for less money, which is well worth the EAA membership by itself.

If you are not a member of AOPA, the EAA is as practical to join, maybe more so as you pointed out. The B17 is always on tour April thru November as is the Ford Trimotor. They do have a terrific museum. They have all the member discount stuff also. Their current partnership program includes FORD and John Deere. And let's not forget the Young Eagles program.
All in all, well worth it.

I need a reason for a trip to SanFran. It would be great fun to take a trip on the Zeppelin. The article I read said there are two more due. One will be based in NY, the other in FLA. 2009 was the due date.
Maybe I can wait.
