This year's weekend has been determined! @JCranford is a hard one to pin down fer shure, but I finally managed.

Anyway, Oct 15th thru 18th. We're hoping for a renewed interest since so many earlier fly-ins had to be canceled.

One lure (pun intended):

The Red Star Pilots Association will also be there that weekend. So come ogle some birds with right turning tendencies! (https://flyredstar.org/)

More info to follow as the time approaches.

Mark your calendars!

On the schedule, how far out does one need to get reservations these days? I suppose Gastons still has the same "friendly" cancellation policy as bygone days?

With ther Red Star guys there, I wouldnt dawdle on making the res. Ive heard the cancellation policy has been relaxed some, but I could be wrong. Last time I had to cancel we were able to move our dates out a few weeks with no issues, but maybe they just like us

Okay, boys & girls!

Here's what I've discovered:

RE: The Red Star Pilots Assn. I spoke with both their treasurer and the more local member who is organizing their fly-in. They indicated that a dozen birds would likely be the VERY MOST that they'll have if the weather is good. Considering our recent track record, I'm thinking a dozen birds would be our max also...if half that even...so there's PLENTY of room for both. They were somewhat excited that we were considering the same weekend. Bigger parties.

RE: Gaston's and their cancellation policy. Yes, unfortunately, it's always been somewhat onerous. It is a $75 cancellation fee if cancellation is made 15 days or more in advance; full loss of deposit if less than two weeks. The deposit is one night's stay. The exception to this, as John said, is if you move the date. They will do this without any loss if changed a week or more in advance. At least that's what I was just told, that part is not itemized on their website. The other is.

That said, losing one night is not the end of the world...well, unless you're a person who was rumored to have flown to 3MO one year instead of 3M0. (har...effing..har, har, har!!!)

Which reminds me...I'm sure someone will ask...Gaston's designator is 3M0 (that's tree mike ZERO...not tree mike OSCAR!!!)

Ummm Tim, was that YOU...?

Good info all around thanks. I was considering contacting the Red Star guys and asking about attendance. Glad we're thinking alike!

Sue and I missed last year, but we're in for this one. Already booked Cabin 6.
If there's anyone in Atlanta area that needs a ride out, please contact me. Also, this cabin (very close to lodge and flightline) has two bedrooms. Could share with somebody or another couple. Turns out a friend of mine has a Nanchang at my airport. I’ve flown it. Kind of fun. I’m hoping he’ll be going with the Red Star group. Having the two groups there should be fun. IMG_9704.jpeg

Dang, stole my favorite cabin!
hah, sorry. Us old guys are too lazy to walk far. The next choice was something like #20. Couldn’t handle that.

Oh, missed another singer-man, @OkieFlyer. You coming over with the fam? And @Radar Contact - is your baggage compartment open if things end up a little IFRrrrrd?

Still have to book something but we tend to be in the 100s or so.

If I make it I’ll probably have room. I put it on the calendar. Now just gotta see what’s going on with work as it gets closer. I hope to make it...really enjoyed our last trip.

I’m a new member here on the board.

A group of us will be coming up from Memphis. At least 4. Cabin 1

if anyone needs a place to stop for gas on their way up, sit out some weather, or spend a night, we can host you at M01. Gen Dewitt Spain airport MEM.

looking forward to it
Lucky

I have a wedding to attend in GA (if allowed) the previous weekend. Not sure I can do two long weekends in a row, and wasn't planning on taking that week in between off. But who knows, maybe MI => GA => AR => MI could happen

Does anyone have an open bunk/bed and want to share/split costs? Especially in the cabins closer to the main desk and our gathering spot? @JCranford?

I have the 182 booked for that weekend. So far just me if anyone else from this end of the world wants to go.

I just called and made reservations for Friday night and Saturday night. I got the LAST available two bedroom cabin with a kitchen. If you're planning on going and you haven't made reservations, you better quit gagging your lolly!

We have another couple coming with us. He flies a Grumman so I plan to give him a head start. If they cancel, I’ll let you know.

I'd sure love to be there, but with the way things are going with the local school districts and my wife being a teacher, I'm pretty much planning on my family being infected with COVID by then.:mad2::mad3::(:nonod::(:(:(

See you all next year... I hope. :(

Still looking for bunk space if anyone has a spot.

I am planning on flying in and out on Saturday. Is there a list of activities for Saturday? Looking forward to seeing everyone.

So who besides Sue and me is coming? In the old days we had online spreadsheets and such keeping track of everything. I suppose we can keep it simpler now. I’m in N882BC probably leaving around noon on Friday.
We still have an extra bedroom in our cabin #6 Friday and Saturday nights if that’s holding anyone back. Also plenty of room in the plane if that helps anyone in Atlanta area.

Lance, Sharon and I are planning on coming if your second room is still available.

be sure and pick up a brochure for us.....

I'll be there in my coachs shorts and striped socks.

Seriously though, the plan is to be there. Cottaging with a banned member.

Greg, please consider it yours. Looking forward to seeing you. We should be there early afternoon Friday.

We've been super busy so I wasn't sure we would make it, thus no reservation. I called and put ourselves on the waitlist. We'll see which way the wind blows.

Will ya need a ride?

Well, if we get a room and it's yet another slow moving cold-front, then a ride would be super helpful. I am close but not done on the IR (31 under the hood and a bazillion approaches). These always seem to take longer than hoped for.

I'll bring a hood. ;)
