Garmin GNS 430 missing maps

Hello,
Recently purchased a liberty xl2 with a Garmin G430 in it. The maps are not displaying. Any idea what is needed to update this feature?

Really outlandish thought, and only likely applicable if you are new to the 430: Maybe you're zoomed in so much that nothing is really visible?

THe CLR button is a declutter button with 4 levels of declutter, try pressing it a few times to see if it brings up more detail. It starts with everything showing and then removes detail with every press until it cycles back to everything showing.

If this is a Jeppesen database in the 430, see if previous plane owner had only subscribed to the regional service.

Is the terrain/obstacle card installed? Do you get any error messages on startup? The unit should show a status page on bootup describing the currency of terrain, obstacle, and nav data. If any of these are missing, you should get an error message. After startup, you should get taken to the GPS status page until integrity is achieved. Even without nav data installed, you should still get terrain/obstacle displays. As mentioned previously, press CLR several times to confirm you have the declutter setting to maximum detail.
