Without the unit on, is there a visual way to tell the difference between a WAAS and non-WAAS version of the Garmin 430?
 
Call Garmin CS and ask?
 
@kgruber - when it's upgraded to WAAS do they change the S/N plate?

Best that it be powered up for confirmation.
 
If there's a GPS bump on the plane exterior, it might be WAAS. If there ain't, it isn't.
 
The GNS 430 uses 8mb green label data cards. The 430W uses 16mb silver label (or newer orange label) cards. You might be able to tell by popping out the data card if you can't boot the unit.

There are some 4mb cards as well.

And the coax cabling is as well IIRC, so if you stick your head under the instrument panel you can figure it out.

That is somewhat dependent on the installer and the time period in which it was installed. I would not use the type of cable installed as a means of determining whether you have a 430 or 430w box.

My point was to the OP. He might be able to discern if it's a 430 or 430W because the antennas are different.
