I am now the proud owner of a plane with a Lycoming IO-540-K1G5D. Thinking about upgrades I thought about adding gami injectors. I went to the website and out of all the IO-540 variants they support, the K1G5D is not listed. Anyone know why this is? Yeah, I know, I should call them. Just curious if anyone else has known this?

@cowman do you have a K1G5D? @blueskyMD you? I think @Rgbeard is a turbo guy.

I don’t remember the sub model io-540 I have offhand but my Lance does GAMI injectors.

You bought an airplane and haven't shown us pictures yet? Rude.

I had a Lance with K1G5D engine . I sold it last november. GAMI's most business is about Contis. I also called GAMI many years ago and was told that injectors dont work well for Lycominngs. They were kind of vague about it. Anyway I bought my Lance in 2008 knowing that engine is making metal with 1700 + hours which needed OH. I sent engine to Signature engines at Lunken and they are great people.One of my buddy at that time who owned a Mooney told me to tell Signature people to match the injectors with fuel flow. Not sure if its standard technique during engine building process or something special ( I dont remember paying anything extra ) But that worked very well and I was always able to fly POL and managed to see some decrease in airspeed with reduction in fuel flow without change engine sounds. I was able to bring down FF to 13.5 GPH with 65% cruise power. My 2cents

I have a piper lance with that engine. Did a Penn Yan overhaul 18 months ago and put GAMI injectors on right away. The total cost (including the 1 hr installation) was about $1,000k. GAMI lets you exchange injectors for a year with the goal to getting all cylinders to peak within 0.5gph of fuel flow (peak EGT). All 6 cylinders in mine are peaking within 0.2 gph. 65% power goes to less than 12gph (instead of 13.8 gph for best economy per POH) and everything is running smooth and with cool CHTs. IMHO GAMI injectors are one of the best investments you can make.

A million bucks? They must really improve performance!
