Does anyone know why my G5 doesn’t show a CDI? It basically just acts like a bearing pointer. I have a GTN750 and 650, I can select the source on the G5 backups from GPS1 or GPS2 and then also select an additional bearing pointer to either VLOC1 or VLOC2.

My concern is, if for example I experience a G500 display failure, a lack of CDI/HSI needle and glide slope indicator really reduces approach capabilities. I’ve looked through ever menu I can think of and also looked into the setup menus. I feel like I’m missing something here but can’t figure out what it might be. G5’s have the latest software updates.

Is it a full fledge hsi with gmu11?

Something is definitely not right. I haven’t seen one without a CDI. Yours also looks like it’s also missing battery status info.

I believe there are different models of G5s, check your POH supplement to determine which you have. For example, the AI version only has a PFD page.
 
They have internal batteries and a GMU-11.

I would guess the HSI was not properly configured as per the install manual. I would review the config.

My guess as well. I think it needs to be reconfigured from the settings menu.
 
Guess it needs to go to a dealer unfortunately. I’ve looked at every setting from the G5, G500, to GTNxxx setup menu and can’t figure it out. Oh well ha

whoever installed it should be fixing it.
