In a few weeks I am scheduled for my ifr checkride.
Right now I have basic ForeFlight and it’s time to renew the subscription.
Do you happen to know if DPE let you use ForeFlight during checkride with pro subscription wich has geo reference thus making the whole process easier with clear situational awareness, or should I wait to upgrade to Pro till after since examiner might not like the additional help that the pro version provide.
Any suggestions?
Thanks for the help.

I thought even Basic FF had georeference, except for taxi diagrams and approach plates.

Since it is for his IFR, he's probably talking about the approach plates.

Answer - your DPE likely won't care if they are georeferenced or not. There is always the possibility of a "failure" but if you have gone through training and are prepared without it, that should not be an issue.

IMO, timing might be an issue. Georeferenced approach plates and lying the approach plate right over the map are great tools. But, like anything else new, if you are not used to them they can be a distraction, an opportunity to fixate on secondary situational awareness rather than the primary instruments. If you have time to learn how to use it, great, but if not, I'd do my checkride with what I am used to.

.
Speaking of which, I recently learned (right here on POA) that if you select "procedures" from within FPL, it will overlay the approach, with all the approach points right on the map. I love that feature.

Yup. It does.

Totally failing your IPAD, making you turn off geo referencing or failing your RNAV is fair game on the inst. practical.

Don't forget to try out the pattern arrival selections. With ADSB-In to provide your tablet wind info, and the extended centerline features, you're upping your game to make a safe entry and landing.
