watching a video and I see ForeFlight (?) + iPAD providing audible alerts on TFR, Alt alerts, entering rny announcement, size of rny, active TFR, CTAF etc. pretty cool. is it a standard feature in ForeFlight + iPAD + Stratus?

few examples can be found in this video -
19:37 mins

I believe audible alerts in general are a standard feature but for things like the runway call outs you have to have geo-refrence which is a feature of the premium levels of subscriptions.

Audible alerts are part of ForeFlight.....

Go to [MORE ...], then [SETTINGS], and scroll down to [ALERTS]. In that area, you can turn on/off the specific alerts, and if you want them audible.

Thanks, I don't have ForeFlight but still trying to decide between Garming Pilot vs ForeFlight and which version of iPad I might buy. right now G1000 is enough distraction. but I like the audible alerts...

Decisions, decisions, decisions..... right?

Both FF and GP have a free trial periods. So you're encouraged to give them both a try

For your comparison research, Foreflight's YouTube channel has tons of short videos on a lot of their features and updates.

I'm not a premium FF subscriber, but I do get the audible runway warnings.

I don't have the geo-reference on the airport diagrams (or approach plates). But airport layouts are included in FF's new "Aeronautical" map, and if you zoom way in, you see yourself geo-referenced on the airport. Good enough for this VFR FLIB.

You also have to figure out how to plumb the iPad audio into your intercom or Bluetooth sync a headset to get them.

Mine talk to me but I always forget to sync the headset so I just hear this disembodied female voice barely audible over the engine idling as I taxi out. Hahaha.

Haha. I just checked my FF settings, saw that audio alerts is on, and was stupidly wondering why I never hear them. I failed the IQ test.

Foreflight pro SV on a mini 4 cell user for a few years, VERY happy with it, the runway call outs and ATIS pop ups are cleaver, but the TFR warnings and geo ref is really nice.

I use the system everyday at work, really can't ask for more, especially when you dig into some of the little planning features and such in foreflight.

LOL. And sometimes it's worse with ANR headsets. What WAS that little voice? Did the controller say something? Oh it's frigging ForeFlight telling me I'm already on the taxiway I'm cleared onto. Haha.
