ForeFlight glitches on 8.0.2

i had FF crash twice over the course of three approaches this afternoon. First glitch was picked the approach plate from the airport screen. It switched to the plates screen but no chart appeared. I picked the option at the top to send it to the map and it appeared. Later, while in a hold after the approach it just locked up. Initially it wouldn't even respond to a double button tap. Eventually it just crashed. After a restart, on the third approach it froze again, but this time I could kill it and restart.

I'm so used to ForeFlight being bulletproof that this was very surprising.

Tech details: iPad Air 128G Verizon, ios 8.0.2 and latest FF.
 
I trust you have advised FF support of this?

So far my experience with 8.0.2 and my 128gb retina Mini has been stable with just a single crash switching between maps and airports.
 
This is what happens when people start upgrading OSs and hardware. I have never and I mean never found OS updates to be a benefit. They have always made things more difficult and caused bugs to come about. I can't even get my sound back after the most recent update.

Additionally garmin Pilot will not even open. I can't believe people praise Apple for this trash they continue to deal their customers.

So we should have left well-enough alone with the iPad 1 and iOS 1.0? ForeFlight 1.0, too? No overlays...no flight plan filing? :dunno:

DOS 1.1 was pretty good stable, too. :rolleyes:

Actually, I'm liking the enhancements to iOS 8. As with any software product, there are bugs. Like other bugs before them, they'll be fixed and we'll enjoy the new capabilities they bring.
 
This is why you wait a while before "upgrading".

Personally I rather have the latest model of the previous model/OS. Keeps it stable and saves some money.
 
Havnt had any problems since the upgrade,worked fine on a trip fro SSI to SRQ,saint Simmons Ga to sarasota fl.
 
ForeFlight crashed thrice on me to/from/at Gaston's.

Thankfully it didn't during the IPC grilling Andrew gave me...I don't recall it doing so anyway.

Foreflight upgrades are good. It's when apple releases broken updates that things get bad.

I've had "broken updates" from Windows, Android and Apple. It's called "software development". No pool of beta testers of any product will exercise something to the extent a few hundred million users will upon release.

As do I, so opt to test the new things during times least disruptive to my work needs. In three years there's only been one show-stopper bug in FF and after reporting it had a fix the next day.

I suspect it is an Apple problem. The update has made my Retina Mini pretty much useless right now, and me quite unhappy.

If you have some consistent crashes, be sure to send them the crash logs. It's the quickest way to get a fix.
