How long did it take for you to study for the FOI Knowledge exam and take the test!

You are testing to be an instructor. You should study enough to score at least a 95%.
 
Maybe 10-12 hours using SheppardAir. Scored 100%.
 
If you're an educational professional, you have to clear your mind of actual educational theory and learn the inane generalizations that the FAA believes. The concepts are so nauseating to those who really know, that the FAA exempts real teachers from having to take the test, lest there be too much puking going on in the testing center.

I love the inane generalizations that educational professionals mark about the FOI.
 
FIA is also not terribly difficult. It’s much of what you have seen with private and commercial.
